Is POE2 the sequel of POE1 ... or the opposite?

I saw a post that resonated with me a little. If they had enough in common, then it would be hard for the two to co-exist. Them being dramatically different opens up the possibility for the two to attract different audiences.

POE2 is really not that great in terms of my experience so far. It does feel like it was influenced a little too much by Ruthless. I'm sitting in end game looking at the screen and completely filled with apathy on whether to click "Traverse" again. There is a whole lot of "what's the point" going through my head each time.

POE1 being a different game with little overlap means maybe it maintains a large enough playerbase that GGG doesn't throw it away. That's what I'm hoping for at least. POE2 just isn't a replacement for me, so if POE1 dies then it's off to find a new franchise to try.

I recommend Titan Quest 2 when it comes out, it won't have a server though.

GGG should shut down POE 1 sooner rather than later. The better game has arrived.
I would much rather they keep PoE1 around.
It's pretty clear that PoE and PoE2 have different appeals and I'd sort of like both parties to get what they want, in different games.

That way they can appeal to both groups (ideally) without what either groups wants being infringed upon by the other as much.

I've personally been enjoying PoE2 far more than I've enjoyed PoE1 in years now.

POE2 feels like what Overwatch2 is to Overwatch.

Unofficially, Poe1 has been in maintenance mode due to low effort leagues since 2021.

This is some serious nonsense! 3.25 was the biggest league we had in a long time maybe the biggest league we ever had so maintenance mode my a..

I don't get why GGG told so many lies about POE1.

Because players would have cut support, its pretty obvious if you think about it (not all obviously)

players dont want to play the same league for 6+ months.
PoE2 is great, much better than PoE1 in many ways.

You must understand that PoE2 is supposed to remove what is unnecessary in PoE1, such as bloated amount of currencies, and make combat more meaningful than pressing 1 button.

As I see it, PoE1 was just spamming Power Siphon or Tornado shot for your whole playsession. Of course that might be gameplay you prefer, but I will never understand your guys aversion to pressing multiple buttons or respeccing builds.

Yes, PoE2 needs lot more "semi-casual" lategame bosses similar to Maven, acts, shorter ascensions, more skills, bigger skill tree, 1 more distance between jewel sockets and possibly even extra skill slot. But mapping and campaign are in fact better than in PoE1. Combat is better, movement is better, servers are stabler, graphics are better, there is better support for weaponswapping. Now, of course you can keep playing PoE1, but it will always be the same, spamming power siphon or tornado shot. In PoE2 you can actually be creative and utilize 2nd weaponsets.
