Why nerf Arsonist instead of buff other minions?

Boss battles with minions. Might as well go in with 1 skill.. Hope it does damage cause as per any game with minions Res. Die. Res Die. how fun is that.

To be fair, pretty much every build in this game is one button.

They set out to remove one button builds, but it will always devolve into that without a better skill system.

Also SRS falls off pretty hard later on, its great for 30 spirit and always will be, but it does less clear than like 2 arsonists, youd be better off changing your 1 button to pain offering.

for minions to even clear remotely as fast as deadeye/stormweavers builds people are running you have to be incredibly tanky with good gear so you can run ahead and group up mobs and resummon them on top of the packs, going from 1 pack to 1 pack based on minion pathing/ai is painfully slow if you ever play a build that can actually clear well it will feel pretty bad.


To be fair, when I say 1 button build I mean 1 primary button I can "spam". I still use Flammability and Pain Offering. But only on bosses or tanky rare enemies.

The Arsonist nerf, really is no big deal. Only a bit less damage. But players nowadays are somehow drilled to see something like "we reduce the damage of this 1.000.000.000 damage ability by 1, down to 999.999.999" and they completely freak out.

The change is not even live yet and everybody loses their freaking mind. People just need to chill out.

But you stated part of the issue in your post. "for minions to even clear remotely as fast as deadeye/stormweavers builds", too many people don't play games for fun anymore but for some sort of imaginary contest it seems like.

Not every build needs to perform exactly the same. Each build has pros and cons. If someone is not satisfied with a minion build or it's performance, just play another build. It's that simple. So in this case, everybody that is complaining the build is not performing the same, go play deadeye/stormweavers. Nobody is stopping you.
I like how "we don't want minions to be tied to a certain ascendancy" in the end it turned out to be "you'll still have to play a witch but without support for minions". I would understand if there was some commercial benefit to it, but it's just irrational.

Infernalist isn't that bad.

The dog is one of the strongest nodes for any ascendency
Altered flesh is a very good defense node when you get good gear and res sorted out
Then you get a good chunk of spirit, and you choose between a defensive node either mana if you are MoM or ES if you are going pure ES for defense.

I thought it was going to be a scuffed ascendency with wasted points, but not really.


Also did GGG actually say thats why there was no necro ascendency? Or was that just redditors being retarded and their uncle that works at GGG told them so?

It's not a bit less damage. We're losing 1/4th of the arsonists. It's a MASSIVE damage loss. But not just damage, it's a loss to more minion bodies. A loss to how often the minions can be up.

Arsonists weren't even really that good for breaches and ritual because they get obliterated even with all the tank nodes combined. I had 3 clerics and they'd still get demolished no matter what I did.

They were only particularly good at destroying bosses. Which I suppose they'll still somewhat do, but the hit to overall map clear is massive.
Massive nerf. 17 down to 12 and I lose clarity. Fun.
When they see that people still play on arsonists, they will cut something else so that "all minions are the same useless shit"
I just tested it in a few maps. Just like I thought, it is completely fine.

This type of overreaction is one of the reason many complaints are initially discarded as whining. Typical boy who cried wolf situation.

no its not fine. map clear went down by a lot. because you know 14 cleared a lot faster than just 10.i swear they will not be happy until every build takes 30 minutes to clear a map
