Poison Gas Arrow Pathfinder
In one of the videos about the Poisonous Concoction build, mentioned that, unlike in PoE 1, poisons in PoE 2 can now crit. Is that true? it mean that a crit applies a stronger DoT

" Poisons don't crit afaik, but the skill you use to apply them absolutely can. To see the in effect, go test out pconc on a boss a few times. You will 1000% see the difference between a crit and a non crit pconc hit in terms of initial damage and how fast / hard the poison ticks. |

Never take quiver with Pierce; it will only make clearing more difficult.

Staggering Palm notable node/tree increases gas cloud damage. And it's right next to two branches commonly used. I have a time-lost ruby there getting 11x small passive nodes and 2 notable node bonuses. If you're flask pilled, you get more as well. If you're already at that Jewel location on the passive skill tree, you get 11.5% physical damage per node.
Speaking of ways to boost gas arrow damage, I'm ditching the poison stacking nodes and going for 1 big poison instead via Low Tolerance node. When poison stack maxxing, enemies are dying before the stacks get above 2 or 3. Outside of bossing, I feel like I'm losing a lot of value in the points placed in the ascendancy tree (Overwhelming Toxicity) and the passive tree (Building Toxins, Stacking Toxins). Even when bossing with the high poison stacks approach, I'm forced to re-apply poison via gas arrow due to low poison duration trade-off. Boss movement makes this harder. The 1 big poison approach doesn't melt as fast, and is not as straight forward mechanically (boring). I still clear maps easily and bosses are fairly easy. But now I have more points to safely experiment with other passive nodes and/or concoction in ascendancy tree (I removed Overwhelming Toxicity and kept Contagious Contamination). If you're going to experiment with concoction potions in the ascendancy tree, it's no secret that poison conc is OP right now. It more than makes up for the slight decrease in gas arrow poison (if going 1 big poison instead of poison stacking). But fire conc is where the fun really begins imo. Since gas arrow poison does more than it's fair share of damage/points invested with the 1 big poison method, I'm grabbing some broader damage+% nodes that apply to both gas arrow and fire damage. I using Gas Arrow (Heft, Deadly Poison, Corrosion, Armor Explosion) followed up with Fire Conc (Exploit Weakness, Fire Pen, Strip Away, Ignition) + Wind Dancer/Plague Bearer/Herald of Ash. This set up is not as simple as, "shoot 1 gas arrow and the screen dies", but it's more bursty and fun. Ignite sources (for gas arrow explosion) and fire damage scaling/justification is tricky with this build. First off, forget the traditional methods: detonating arrow is garbage and flame wall is too consistent of an ignite source. It prevents poison from being applied consistently due to the instant gas detonation. To make this work, you must enable the following events to happen quickly and consistently: 1. Shoot Gas arrow, applying poison (1 big poison + long duration) 2. Gas arrow armor break explosion (Gas Arrow + Corrosion, Armour Explosion) 3. Throw Fire Conc (Exploit Weakness, Fire Pen, Strip Away support) 4. Ignite gas arrow cloud explosion (Fire Conc + Ignition support - or Plague Bearer + Herald of Ash - or armor break explosion ignite) Events 2 or 3 can happen interchangeably without much consequence. If the fire conc hits before the armor break explosion, this explosion benefits from the fire exposure. If the armor explosion happens before the fire conc hits, the fire conc can benefit from consuming the broken armor. Fun build! |
