Jamanra (Act 2) is everything wrong in PoE2
" Skill tree is OK, gems and links are ok. Gear is garbage and it's pure RNG. And given that in PoE1 I only ever found 2 six links in 6+ seasons played ... I must have an account with a terrible seed to make the RNG consistently garbage. |
|
" Trade does wonders but I always play this type of game as SSF. So I am hard locked at what the vendors offer and what my crafting managed to produce. And so far it's all garbage. I played trade league once and it kinda destroyed all the fun for me. |

+1
Boss mechanics are fun but way too many hp for early game. By Act2 if rng isn't on your side or you've specced into sub-par skills because it sounded good on paper the boss takes forever and it's not fun. |

+1 to everything OP wrote, but I have this same experience on A1 Geanor instead. I have firewall, minions, tons of AOE stuff. I cannot see jack shit on the ground. Fighting for 5 minutes, then missing a single dodge roll and being 1 shot only to retry 10x times feels like shit. There is no way for me to gain more power either, I have ground through A1 5x times entirely, I have maxed out gems, I have great items. I could scrap my build and do one of the few cookie cutter meta builds (until it gets nerfed 10x), but here's a better idea: fix the boss fights. Many of the players DONT LIKE THEM.

On a minion build, really semi-random minion nodes and act 1 gear, mostly just underleveled RS and no ascendancy, beat him 1st try.
I died many times on the caravan, fighting the mobs to get to Jamanra, because my build was trash and I had no survivability. Dodge his attacks, let the minions kill him, that's what minion builds do. |

I had to look up which boss this was as I had zero problems with any bosses in Act 2 while playing minions... the Act boss, yeah zero challenge with a decent minion build.

On day one I must have spent 2 hours learning this boss, I was getting incredibly frustrated with the encounter, but you know what. I learnt the fight, and as a result every alt I have made since then has one shot the boss.
I'm even playing a really scuffed mercenary build at the moment that literally does zero dps, took me 10+ minutes to fight Doryani, ended the fight with full flasks. The boss fights are fantastic and can be learned well enough to avoid the telegraphed damage. Of course that doesn't apply to everything else in the game, specially in maps where even the trash can one shot you. |
|
" oh no, white monsters in a map are mobbing me and dealing scratch damage, what am I to do |
|
" That's an opinion which I don't share. As for "telegraphed" - yep, inside of flame walls with minions all over the place, the "telegraph" is completely lost on me. I can't even see which way the boss is facing or whether he raises his arms or not. Only way to see something is to NOT use Flame Wall which means your main damage dealer is not in the game. I get that some people like Souls game. I don't. |

1) Get life regen on as many items as possible
2) Get a flask that gains charges/sec Helps a lot on longer fights. |
