Jamanra (Act 2) is everything wrong in PoE2

On a minion build, gave up after like 15 attempts. I fail to see the point of a boss with 1 million hitpoints that takes 10+ minutes to kill. You run out of flasks thanks to the unavoidable damage or you miss one dodge and start from scratch.

Farm till level 40 and hope for better gear?
"Craft" and hope for a random item that isn't utter garbage?
Continue to waste time trying to dodge perfectly 100+ times during the fight?
Completely rework the build to do decent cold damage?
Pray for an item that gives you spirit so more minions?

Or ... just accept that PoE and this type of boss encounter isn't my thing, call it a day and forget about the game?

At the moment my frustration is high enough to consider quitting. I just don't see a point in a boss that needs 10+ minutes to kill and 100+ perfectly timed dodges. IN CAMPAIGN MODE!

I never liked Dark Souls and PoE2 is drifting heavily into the direction of it. Dying 100 times till you learn the mechanics and dying 100+ times more until you don't fumble a dodge is for masochists but not me.

How about adding an enrage timer that speeds the boss by 2x, and does 10x damage when not killed in 3 minutes? Thanks to capping the skill gems and not allowing to level them with XP gives the game a hard gear lock. I noticed this on my warrior - one lucky find and breezing through map where I struggled before. But gear is 100% luck in this game. Still don't have ANY +level to minions items and the minion damage is ok but against this boss it is pathetic at best.

Also: Dodging is a bit of an issue when you can't see shit thanks to the flame walls, SRS and minions. Visual overload is the best description I have - when you can't even see what the effing boss is doing that you need to doge or stand behind.

Just because you have an issue with the boss doesn't mean that others are having the same issue. Have to laugh at the dodge roll count and Dark Souls comparison when I barely have to roll in maps and just play normally.

I killed it and I still hated every minute of it. HP sponge is not not my idea of enjoyable and so far that feels like every other boss/rare encounter.

They run out of mechanics after a minute (sans phase 2s where it gets another minute worth of mechanics) when the fight itself is much longer. It's pretty boring.

Felt like one of the easier bosses, though might be cause i could tank everything except the sand.
Have you put any effort into gearing your character at all? Minion builds are one of the most broken right now, you should have absolutely decimated that boss. Asmongold beat it with minions in a matter of seconds and he's not even an ARPG player.

I would strongly advise you to check shops (they refresh on level up) and review your passive tree/skills. You're probably sitting on some major upgrades. It is a requirement in this game to go back to town and gear your character. It's not like PoE 1 where you can just pick up a white item from the floor every now and then and just blast through the entire game mindlessly.

I agree with it
Good minion builds tear through everything, including him, without much issues at all.
My build isn't particularly good [I.E. it's bad] and it took me a LOT more than 10 minutes to kill the boss but surprisingly I was able to do it on the 3rd try.

Fortunately the boss didn't hit SUPER hard [1-shot] and I managed to dodge enough damage so that my recovery normally kept strain off of my life flask.

My problem is that I spend VASTLY too much time trying to "dance" with the boss when I should be mugging them. Still I had just enough damage uptime that I wore the boss down before he wore me down.

Things I would try:

1. Farm until you have some combination of 10 Ex, Regals, Alcs, Chaos, whatever

2. Hit up the PoE2 trade site. Look for "1 Ex" upgrades to every piece of gear you have

3. Check your skills, supports, spirit gems, etc. Make sure you've got the right links to set up and execute any combos your build has.

4. If you don't have much recovery see what you can do to get some.

5. If your mitigation or Life+ES is so low that you get one-shot then look at increasing all of those as much as is reasonable.

6. I think SirGog put out a video on the boss. I killed the boss the day before his video but after watching I think he gives reasonable examples of what to do [He's playing witch if I recall]

After the above, which will likely be annoying, I would think your damage, "health", and recovery should be good enough to do vastly better in the fight.

NOTE: I wound up only replacing my weapon from trade but then again that's where most of my damage was coming from and that's what I was missing the most.

Since the days when streamers didn't have to queue at league start, I always suspect that GGG knows the streamer accounts and that they run on a different loot pool than us normal guys. When I watch Ziz, Asmongold, etc - they tend to find exceptional loot every session - more than I find in a season.

And yes, I looked at Asmongold and what he had - I'd say his minion build does 5x or more the damage as I do. It's not the tree - it's the gear that is just ... garbage. And I craft every white base and I check the vendors every level: Always garbage, except once for my warrior - he bought a very nice weapon.
After reading horror stories about The Dreadnaught and the Jamanra fight, I was a bit uneasy stepping into The Dreadnaught. Lvl 33 Sorc, nothing special build wise, mostly Arc + Orb of Storms and I slap down Conductivity for those pesky rare packs.

Waltzed right through it without a single issue all the way to the Jamanra fight. Died on my first attempt to the wind, didn't realise I had to hide from it. Killed the boss on 2nd attempt, super easy, think I used my health flask 3 times and that was mostly for lols at like 2/3 of HP still there. Fight took 5 minutes max.

I'm BAD at games, reflexes are shot and I honestly suck. The fight was easy. I don't get how people are having such a tough time with these bosses. It must be class / build specific. And bad gear.
