[POE2] Game crash when changing zones

It happens to me when I play with the controller. It dint happen the first 4 days but now it crashes every time I change map. Now I play with keyboard mouse and its fine... but I don't like it, I want controller :(. Controller needs to be completely disconnected from pc so I don't crash

I have the same issue as the OP. The CPU affinity thing also works for me (thanks for that btw), in that it prevents an entire system crash - it doesn't stop the game crashing on zone transitions, but at least I can kill the process and start again without having to restart my entire PC. Crashes for me are relatively infrequent, I would say around 1 in 10 zone transitions (enough to make you think twice before portalling to town to sell/craft loot!)
I have the same issue. But I only have lock ups with the STEAM client. The stand alone works fine after I use the paackcheck.exe command after each patch.
Same problem
Im on Pc - Steam
No Controller
I have the same problem, crashed every time. I played at least once this afternoon then i quitted for frusrtating. And i paid for this. Unbelievable. Pls fix this is unplayable

When i enter a new zone or portal back to town not only the game crashes, but my PC completely freezes, only restart helps. It happens randomly, not every time.

When the crash occurs the CPU usage spikes heavily and Windows seem to enter into a process deadlock. The mouse moves for some time, then it stops, system does not respond to anything. I can hear some popping sound in the backgroudn, i suppose it's a sound thread locked.

Update1: After logging back i've got the crash/freeze again on initial world load, next time i was able to start the game and run the /bug command immediately: Bug Report ID: #2504119664

Update2: I've found a workaround to some degree. By changing CPU affinity in task manager for POE2 process, unchecking core 0 and 1, basically limiting the used cores for the game i was getting less crash and if i get one i can at least close the game in the Task Manager, no more hard reset.

Open task manager> right click poe2> go to details> set affinity> untick 2 cores and apply.

Update3 After several hours of testing i've got only 1 crash after today's patch, but still happening.

Update4 Seems i had luck with the crashes not occuring, but they are still happening. Pretty random though.

Update5 The freezes and hard locks ARE STILL HAPPENING after several patches. The CPU affinity workaround in my Update2 only solve the hard lock issue for me and makes it possible to force close the game. This issue is still frequent. I get a crash almost everytime i start the game at fresh boot, and 10/8 times when entering completely new zones.

hey

there is an already existing thread for this topic!

long story short in 108 sides: no permanent working solution so far.
PC/game keeps still crashing

Recommendation to stop playing until fix, or play without multithread under 30fps.

Otherwise u will damange your system permanently
THe game is just unplayable for me now.
I've been getting the same crashes everyone talks about here since day 1. Today my pc froze 3 times in one hour, i got frustrated and stopped playing PoE. I came back 4 hours later to continue my leveling and THE FIRST TP INTO TOWN pc crashed again. UNPLAYABLE !!!! SAY SMT WITH A TWEET GGG. DO SOMETHING
Experiencing the same issue, unchecking affinity seems to have the same effect where I'm at least able to end task without a hard reboot.

Asus Rog Crosshair x870e Hero
AMD Ryzen 9800x3d
Nvidia 3090 FE
I'm having same problem with 7800x3d and 4070Ti. DLAA and Nvidia Refles disabled (seems to me that happen more often when they are enabled but after a while I start thinking it douen't affect.

Update: just for extra info if it helps: I'm playing 3440x1440 and I have other screen 2560x1440 where I'm usually watching youtube/twitch/discord.
Also I see in my PCMonitor that the usage of the CPU goes to 100% when loading a new area. That may be the issue and maybe could be solved just by limiting the resources when loading a new area.
