Kinda sad what other people here are saying about POE 2

"
Ruthless sounded great but it turned out that apart from 2-3 guys worldwide no one ever plays it.

On Steam:

POE2 : 578k peak - 416k current - 260k min since launch
POE1 : 228k peak

(im not listing POE1 current, because obviously all the POE1 players are currently trying POE2)

And *every* one of these POE2 players paid.

POE2 is already more popular than POE1.

Will it remain so? I'd bet serious money on it.

I really love the difficulty!

It's as if people have one thing in their mind and that's rush rush rush.
If you die to a boss, then fix your gear.
Farm some more.

The slower pace get's you more involved with the actual game.
Don't whine about mobs being too hard, when others can easily kill them.

Instead tell yourself, why do others kill them easily?
- They're prob higher level.
- They prob have better gear.
- Maybe tried the fight more times.

They're gonna work on poe2 and poe1, so if poe 2 aint for you then go back to poe1, don't make our poe2 into the same boring nobrain poe1. ty

This. I love that it requires some effort. Its SO satisfying going back to an area that was an absolute nightmare and steam rolling it. I feel like I am getting to understand the game systems so much more too and I don't absolutely NEED to follow a build guide because you basically cant brick your character, respecing almost feels like an extra system to deal with in a way, which has been fun.
Hi all, wanted to give my input as a long time Diablo enjoyer now trying out Path of Exile for the first time. The difficulty in this game, although not completely worked out and balanced yet, I believe is an amazing challenge. No one wants to play a game where you are mindlessly crushing through content, or where there is no mechanic to learn that makes the game experience challenging and enjoyable. The game is also in early access and we need to remember that the developers are still collecting data. I found myself level locked right before the Act I boss and had to go back and farm the map for better gear and a couple levels. This is only because I went in blind and am not using a build guide. But let me reassure you, the game gets easier, you just have to keep grinding, learn the loot system in this game, gearing, ability synergies etc. and there are almost endless possibilities of these synergies with support gems.

All in all the game difficulty is in a good place I think, as a CASUAL player. I don’t want an easy ARPG… this leads me to burn out faster and get bored of the game. Although I do think certain mobs and bosses probably need some tuning and some work on playable classes and how new players approach the game. Rest assured these things will be fixed and polished soon. If you’re having trouble somewhere in the game don’t get too down about it.. you’re only a couple mobs away from another gear drop that will set you straight or a couple of levels that can help you in the passive tree.

Try to have fun with the game and I just know in endgame this game will open up and play as fast and as easy for you as POE1. It’s all about building your character.

Cheers fellow Exiles.
I dont put much stock in any post about the game's current difficulty because there is such a vast difference in the performance of skills. If I was playing minions I would probably also think the difficulty is perfectly fine.
double post for some reason

Player count peaks are virtually useless estimates for stuff like this, because of how many factors affect it.

PoE2 player count peak has a lot to do with reputation of PoE1 and people who have played PoE1. When PoE1 was launched, no such luck, since no previous PoE existed. It was simply something for ARPG fans who maybe didn't enjoy D3 enough and wanted something to scratch the itch of D2 (which D3 did not, at the time, at all).

PoE1 manages to retain about 40-60k players 2 months after new league. If PoE2 manages to do that assuming nothing of current design changes drastically, I would be extremely surprised. Though that's also in part because there just isn't nearly as much endgame content anyway. I personally suspect the numbers will be drastically lower though.

The campaign won't be this difficult the 5th, 10th or 100th time it's completed. Plus people will have tons of leveling builds out just like the do now.

Worrying about difficulty now is pointless. The game is harder now than it ever will be. It only gets easier from here.

3 years from now when they release difficult league content, people will respond "you should have seen it at launch".

Relax, just learn the mechanics, create some effective builds, and enjoy the new game experience. You'll only get it once.
so i didnt play very much of the first game. this game however i have been seeing a lot of people saying the game is difficult. i think there is a couple of reasons for this. playing a more difficult char, like warrior or witch, and maybe not putting your passives in survivability. i can say warrior is way harder than merc bc the mercenary is absolutely boring easy. you literally only have to strafe circles with mobs, and dodge aoes with bosses. if youre moving the mobs wont hit you, melee or ranged. kinda broken. i can say this game is a little boring so far with loot drops and gameplay loop but i am putting that down to merc not being balanced well. the loot is less forgivable imo it just doesnt seem to keep up with your leveling. i dont think its a bad game, i think its on par with other arpgs that have a slower feel. however people were saying elden ring was too difficult and i think it also had a lot to do with inexperience or not really optimizing a build.
