progressing to the new part "return to infested barrens and activate the stone altar" you can turn it but the water wont drop.

Same issue, impossible to get a new giant soul core. Quest state is stuck unable to do anything

Found a way to fix this , the only way currently is to join someone else's party and let them open it up for you using the core.

FIX THIS QUEST!! Playing co-op and only one person can progress the quest SMH!

Same issue, there's already been many posts on this, I emailed ggg about this and advice everyone to do the same, this is a critical progression blocking bug that basically bricks your character..

Quest- Legacy of the Vaal
Issue- 'Retrieve the large soul core near Alva' is impossible if you "loose" the instance after the soul core drops.
I swapped to a friends game to help them kill a boss and now I cant progress. 'spawning' the instance again does nothing.

After Killng the Chimera I found it too just didn't pop up on my map

Strange that I didn't have this issue the first time I played.

I have a similar issue. Playing in a party and my friend sees the portal to the next location from he machinarium, but I only see a checkpoint and a dead end without a portal to the next location. Looting cores does not help, reloading the game does not help.
The issue is on cruel difficulty.

Update: I entered the zone again with my friend who have previously successfully completed this quest and I opened all the altars by myself in an instance of my friend's fresh zone.
