PoE 2 - I hate trial of the sekhemeas so much

- MF
- Armor sucks
- Ranged being OP
- One life
- Too much one-shot

There are lots of reasons to put the game aside for a few months.
It's way off-balance.
Getting a tiny amount of honor every floor is a MAJOR boon
Getting "you have no energy shield" is a MINOR affliction.
If you're a CI build this just ends your run right there. And it's a MINOR AFFLICTION. You can get this at random from some fucking fountain or a pact. And there won't be Original Sin for you at the end if you somehow make it on 1 HP.

I give them the benefit of EA, this will need some major tailoring before being shipped as an official product.

Just tried to get my third (let alone my fourth) ascendency on a warrior. I knew that the trial of the Sekhemas is WILDLY biased against melee classes, so I decided to play it safe and overlevel the trial by 12 levels before even attempting it. And not just overleveled, but quite well geared, having just spent about 40 exalts buying gear upgrades for every slot. Only have the 1 trial key, because their drops are so damned rare, so I'm not taking any chances.

First floor is easy enough, but after the first floor, I started getting random afflictions in every room. The very first one I get is "lose 94 honor after every single room"... With about 20 rooms to go, that one affliction costs about 2/3 of my honor. I struggle through, hoping that there will be some way to remove it, and taking every opportunity to get honor refills when available. Then I'm horrified to find that the second floor bosses do massive AOEs. Easily survivable for my tanky build, but still do MASSIVE honor damage. Then I get to the third floor, all my afflictions still in place, and slowly bleed out honor until my run is ended.

Now my level 60 trial key is spent, and along with it all of my enthusiasm for this game.

Maybe I'll pick it up again if and when these devs, whose choices I've generally respected over the last 12 years, admit to the mystifyingly stupid choice they've made here. I mean, gating a core aspect of character progression behind the most punishing, random, unpopular, and unbalanced game mechanic they've ever introduced is bad enough. But to then also make every single attempt at it require a rare drop is just... I honestly just want to know what the hell they were thinking.

They were thinking you should do ultimatum since you don't have evasion.
A lot has been written already but this trial is so infuriating i have to add to this topic. I tried multiple times today to do the third ascendency on my monk but was not able to do so.

I always hated the honor mechanic in POE1 as well and always skipped it. I am not a huge fan of labs as well since i don't see the point forcing someone to play a minigame mechanic just to progress or finish a build. But at least labs was somewhat of a calculated gear and skill check.
With POE2 Sekhemas Trial this gotten a lot worse. Just to many rng things in a way to long trial.
The last try, one single trap square i had to stand on to open a door took 700 honor from me when i not immediately moved after stepping on it, basically failing the run for me.

In short:
- this mechanic that a lot of players dislike is gatekeeping lategame progression
- every new try requires to find or buy the coin again -> why
- the trial takes forever with 3 required runs in succession -> this does not value the low amount of time i can spare for this game
- pathing / room rng can make you fail -> this is not a fun interaction

If this bad mechanic stays it needs to be a lot easier for me to consider playing this game more. A solution would be to reset honor every floor or even better, a done floor should be a checkpoint.
Did my 2nd ascension on my first try but it was terrible. Least fun time in poe.

Rng fest without a save is how you get people to rage quit. Either remove honor or make people who complete it without it not receive loot via chests at the end
Woulnd'y mind it if it wasn't for the honour mechanic. I don't really need a 2nd life bar, I can die perfectly fine if I fuckup badly enough on my inital one, honor just means I can fuck up early and get RNGed into not being able to recover that honour.

There is a reason why Im still stuck and the 2nd trial and I shall forever call it the Trial of Suckmyass.
I've never been so tilted by any game design in my life. I was 50 maps in before I even got a drop for 3rd ascendancy and then got face fucked by bad luck 3 times in a row. Finally get to last boss only to get destoryed because I haven't seen the boss yet. Now I have to do it all again. If you aren't playing an OP build there's no chance and even then you're at the mercy of RNG. This is not fun GGG at all.
OH and let's not forget about the market prices making it virtually impossible to get gear right now. People are stacking magic find gear and then pricing everything at prices normal people who just hit end game can't afford. Can't get the magic find gear without ridiculous currency. Can't get to higher maps without the magic find gear. Which makes the ascendancy even harder because I'm having to go in with really bad gear cause I can't afford anything in trade and crafting just feels like throwing away what little currency I do have.
Regret getting this game, absolutely 0 fun
