Massive Latency Spikes
Ok guys, I made a WinMTR test yesterday specifically pinging Moscow server at that time when stutters go crazy: from 17:30 UTC to 19:30 UTC.
Here is result: | WinMTR statistics | | Host - % | Sent | Recv | Best | Avrg | Wrst | Last | |------------------------------------------------|------|------|------|------|------|------| | 192.168.0.1 - 0 | 695 | 695 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 0 | | 172.28.27.57 - 4 | 621 | 601 | 0 | 1 | 32 | 3 | | 172.28.27.62 - 3 | 637 | 621 | 0 | 1 | 27 | 0 | | 172.28.29.254 - 3 | 627 | 609 | 0 | 1 | 26 | 1 | | as57164-151-0-12-53.htel.cc - 3 | 639 | 624 | 1 | 2 | 54 | 2 | | No response from host - 100 | 141 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | 10.0.9.61 - 3 | 631 | 614 | 21 | 22 | 49 | 23 | | No response from host - 100 | 141 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | 10.254.1.82 - 3 | 638 | 622 | 25 | 27 | 68 | 26 | | ggg-mos-1751.multiplay.co.uk - 2 | 650 | 638 | 25 | 25 | 56 | 25 | |________________________________________________|______|______|______|______|______|______| WinMTR v0.92 GPL V2 by Appnor MSP - Fully Managed Hosting & Cloud Provider As you can see from 650 packages 12 has been lost and maximum ping jump was from 26ms to 56ms. This ping jumped very rarely. Now, as I understand correctly every time package was lost there will be stutter in the game. I don't think I should see a stutter if ping jumped from 26ms to 56ms, but ping jumped rarely, so nevermind. Now, the real problem is that in this hours there is stutters in the game EVERY 4-7 seconds. Network graph have spikes from 26 to 300+ ms often and a lot of latency graph spikes even when ping is stable. According to my test I should have seen only 12 stutters in 21 minutes of gameplay, but as I said there was stutters every 4-7 second. Of course I used IP address from log and pinged the same server on which I played on that map. I am not an expert, but I think all this mean it is not some route issue or my provider issue, isn't it? " Generally, its not an ISP issue(your ISP) Look at my last post. Its a routing issue in/around the servers. |

The game has become almost unplayable in the evenings for me. Starting 6-7pm CET game has massive lag spikes and stuttering. Some maps work, others don't at all. Even menus lag. Combine this with the unforgiving nature of PoE2's mapping, and you have a recipe for massive frustration. I simply log off and play something else instead of risking all progress/maps/xp.
Those same lag problems at that specific time slot also happened in PoE1 in the past but haven't been a thing in last year or so. Last edited by Sttorr#4323 on Dec 18, 2024, 2:03:58 PM

Ya not sure what is the cause. I'm in the pacific northwest so I tried some other servers than Cali. Texas, DC, Canada East and Japan.
They all seem to have the same spikes. Although DC seemed to happen less frequently? But that might be confirmation bias |

Just came across a Wudijo video of him having similar spikes... he calls them fps spikes but its CPU load spiking and is also reflected in the white network bar of F1
Maybe we're all just experiencing this? Coincidentally i'm also playing Merc. But i'm not gemmling like him, as he thinks it has to due with an ascendancy node he took. I'll try messing with support gems while moving like him and see if I can replicate the spikes. But his gameplay at the start doesnt match what i'm experiencing, his was way worse and more consistent, rather than just the occasional hard spike, gameplay freeze and then the gameplay playing catchup https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xvz31I2VJBc Update: Swapping gems certainly does cause cpu load spikes and some stuttering, but this isnt the issue. Latency spikes still happening and was not the same Last edited by slimatic84#5839 on Dec 18, 2024, 7:46:06 PM

Yesterday was 300-600ms lag spikes.
Today it's 1000-10000ms lag spikes.. just sitting in my hideout. |

I am also affected by the lag spikes, but since the patch I'm also getting all kinds of stutters I was not getting before.

23 pages of complaints and not a single GGG reply... its wonderful you guys are working hard on fixing some of the balancing issues in game, but if we cant actually play because of these lag spikes that DO NOT STOP, this game is going to crash as bad as Lost Ark...
Get the network admins to fix this already, or at the very least, provide us with SOME sort of an answer. |

Just dropping a +1 - experiencing the same problems.
- Using Steam client. - Washington DC server (experience same on others) - Recommended ports are opened. - AT&T Fiber internet. - Randomly (often) will have sessions where ping bounces from 18ms -> 300+ every few seconds. Unfortunate result of this is that I've had to basically just not play during these spikey sessions, which is almost every session, as can't really map when lag kills you every few minutes. Hopefully there's some form of a response and/or resolution here soon - quite the lengthy thread. Cheers guys. |

" 23 Pages + dozens of other forum posts about it + dozens of posts about it on Reddit and Steam Forums. Honestly thinking about contacting Valve about it to get a refund. |
