Hard crashing PC locks up
I have sent the DX diag, and im not playing until fixed, can't risk my PC, not sure if it is risky, but after what i've read im scared anyway.
Bump, hope its fixed soon, i love GGG, and i know they are working on it. No simp, i have been playing poe 1 forever so i feel like i know them and they are genuine. |

GGG, have you found bug or need some help?

This problem has been present since the launch.
It has been 46 days. Not a single attempt at communication from GGG. At this point if they cannot find the bug themselves they should pay for someone with the ability to do it. Does GGG developers think the answer will come to them at their dreams? It is obvious they cannot find the root cause, probably because they are not looking at their own engine... Not being able fix the issue is just one part of the problem the other part is the lack of communication. How hard can it be to keep one support staff on hard crash communication duty? Just post daily updates about this issue to show that GGG is not abandoning its paid customers. Things like "we have eliminated X as a possible cause." or "we have found another trigger for hard crash, please avoid doing Y in game." That's why, once again I ask anyone who encounters this problem to please give a negative review for Path of Exile 2 on Steam in a detailed and informative manner so that others will be made aware of the issue. I cannot send/reply to direct messages because my in-game character has not finished Act 1.
What to do: 1)Write a short review about the hard crashes in notepad. 2)Copy and paste it to steam reviews, put up a negative review. 3)Copy and paste it to steam discussions, put it up there. |

" much like the boss killing ppl as the cause of apparent low amounts keys. the high cpu on thread 1 i suspect is a sympton not the cause. the actual consistent thing has been shader cache processing which happens predominantly in map loads and has high drive pressure and high cpu usage. with a 5800x (known to be a cpu that cooks) has never had a recording greater then 70c for me when the freeze occured, that doesn't mean its not spiking to peak between a poll update cuz its certainly good, but ive yet to catch cpu ever be greater then 70c during the map loads. anytime the system has full froze, my adata ssd has been peak transfer speed. perhaps its that overheating, tho ive not noticed it. in any case. im not so convinced the cause is the cpu usage, the crash is, but why the cpu is peaking i suspect is related to teh windows dx/vulan kernels in some way. the cycle for me has been, clean install, its good for a day, next day i start having issues, like the cache is getting some weird corruption, i clear the cache and it might be good again for a while. watchign proc mon, i can see it outputting shader unpacking errors. vulkan is affected too, but alot less. thats what ive been able to catch and have reported. |

Since yesterday I was able to stop the crashes from happening by just limiting how many cores the game can use, now it does not matter and it crashes EVEN more often, specifically every 3rd loading screen can be a potential crash. This must be addressed asap as it causes for the PC to have issues as well, only happens with POE2 so windows so far didnt cause any issue with my other games.
URGENT Update: Happened almost on every transfer screen, cant play the game at all, locked in hideout. Additional Issues: DX12 Has stuttering issues, Audio defaults to the wrong device and even after changing it, it does not set the changed device as default and just resets (maybe because of the crashes?). Waiting for a timely resolution. |

I'm having the same problem here, it's gotten worse since the last update.
I'm frustrated because I can't play because of these crashes. I would really like GGG to comment on this problem now and also correct it soon. |

" That's interesting. Thanks for your reply. It's food for thought indeed and there is definitely some weird interaction happening in shader (re-)processing time on the deeper layers of the operating system and the game somehow triggers it. It may be even not related to compilation directly, but as you said - the extraction shaders from the cache and / or .ggpk storage. Probably something that causing the system to stuck doing file operations at full speed multiplied by parallel threads. But it's only my speculations. Thanks for the reply again because nobody here never reported about I/O subsystem (HDD/SSD) spikes at this moment. Last edited by cursorTarget#1174 on Jan 21, 2025, 5:22:57 PM

I was using PoEUncrasher and had success until the latest update. As in, my computer wouldn't hardlock and I could close out of PoE rather than my computer crashing. Since last update I am back to my computer hardlocking and being forced to turn off my computer.

its been over a month and a half of waiting for this issue to be fixed which is really disappointing to see I just hope the wait isn't that much longer so I can finally sink untold hours into this game.
