Hard crashing PC locks up
" I believe they did acknowledge the issue on the forums. They are apparently in holiday vacation right now which is most likely why a fix hasn’t been released. Also its a early access game and unfortunately we should expect some issues.. |
|
" they have communicated its both in this thread and the known issues. They have been on break since before christmas posting this daily is cringe post your comp specs, or post a fix and leave. |
|
" yesterday I experienced a similar crash exacly like POE2 too while not playing, this is a new rig that I built recently, with fresh windows and all and yes, before this I experienced freezes during load times on POE2 which forced me to hard reset... I really hope this is not damaging any kind of component but I'm kinda scared to keep playing the game... |

" The one on the known issues is a misdirection/blame-shifting to Windows 11 24H2. It has been long proven that the issue is not related to this. We have crash reports from Windows 10, Windows 11 23H2, and Linux. The other message they have sent was a copy-paste, and they did not check dxdiags they have been sent, we know this because people have reported that their files in cloud/drive have not been accessed. By the way neither of these were "proper communication". They did not address their plans on this issue, neither did they warn people to not play the game while the issue persists. They did not even mention this issue even once in the patch notes. My specs are not important on their own because we have more than 600 pages of specs, if you need data points look at those pages. Furthermore, I ask anyone who sees this message to please give a negative review for Path of Exile 2 on Steam. I cannot send/reply to direct messages because my in-game character has not finished Act 1. I apologize for any unanswered messages. Last edited by Cainrith#2807 on Dec 31, 2024, 6:42:01 PM

Hello everyone,
I am not claiming to find a perfect solution or anything. I try everything in this form post. The issue was regularly happening to me. My "solution" now is as follow before every time I play the game I go to %AppData\Roaming\Path of Exile 2 and delete my shade folder before starting the game. If I don't do this the game after a few loading screens crashes. It was even worse after any new patch. But after long gaming season it doesn't happens when I delete the shade folder. I try d12 and Vulkan both it is the same depending on what are you using make sure to delete the folder is name ShaderCacheD3D12 in case of d12 users. I hope this is helpful to someone. Cheers. |

" !. Its not a misdirection as the majority of people with the issue are on 24h2, they said its likely replated to multithreading and in fact doing temp fixes to remove multithreading or cpu usage of poe has fixed it for some epople, but these are fixes or all, or work all the time thus they will release one 2. They did not copy paste, and because they likely have security in place for opening things on work pc's they will ignore any drive/cloud posts given to them as they requested Pastebins, Not drive/cloud links (that generaly require logging into view and are a vector of cyber attacks 3. its a known issue in a known issue thread, they dont need to make a post beyond aknowledging it if they dont have a fix ready to employ 4. your specs are important as obviously based on steam alone we know its not just 24h2 its likely a combination of things, some peole crash with intel/nvidia, some on proton with linux drivers, some crash purely with AMD parts others on win 10 or 8. so yes every data point is important 5. Negative reviews arent to air greviences with products in early acess. |

" Your first four points are reasonable but I disagree about #5. This is early access we paid for, it's not unreasonable to use reviews to show dissatisfaction for a product we paid for. I see it as venting frustration in the lack of communication from GGG regarding this issue. Once it's resolved, I think a lot of these reviews will be revised. |

[Removed by Support] They're likely getting back into the office en masse tomorrow and will be keen to resolve issues like this.
Not resolving bugs like this benefits no one. Just give them some air [Removed by Support]. Last edited by Vash_GGG#0000 on Dec 31, 2024, 7:17:16 PM

" Nah you’re coping. This problem has existed for years with PoE1. Dont be delusional. They’re not fixing it when they get back from the holidays. They would’ve fixed it years ago if they knew what the hell they were doing. GGG is trying to shift the blame to the Windows update and clearly it’s fooling folks like you. It’s a slap in the face to the consumer and a very bad mark on GGG. Leaving a negative review is all they’ve left us to do and I urge everyone here to do so. |
|
" This is a point often overlooked. If it exists in PoE1 and hasn't been fixed after all this time, then it may indicate there is a fundamental flaw in the way the game generates shaders (or whatever it is) in a multithreaded fashion, then it could require a lot more work than most expect. That's pure speculation but it's no worse than what anyone else is doing, considering we have absolutely no useful information to work with. PoE2: A good, giving game
