Hard crashing PC locks up

"
I crashed earlier today outside of a loading screen, and the error in event viewer said something about secure boot. I checked my system information, and my secure boot was turned off. I turned it on in the bios, and I'm not saying this fixed anything, but I'm curious if that could be a potential issue?

Anyone crashing with your secure boot turned on?

Nevermind, I crashed like 5 minutes after posting this lol. If you're having crashes outside of loading screens though turning on secure boot might fix that.

Shouldn't affect gameplay, but it's always good to check after a BIOS update to make sure your mobo has Secure Boot, TPM and Windows UEFI all turned on. Assuming you have a Windows system.
Windows 11 23H2 (Steam), AMD 5800X3D, RTX 4070 Ti Super 16GB, 32BG DDR4 3200, Samsung 980 Pro SSD

For Intel users (specifically 13th and 14th gen users) suffering from this issue, I have the solution for probably a large portion of us. The windows version is completely irrelevant. I learned this in the dumbest way possible. I had a lot of friends begging me to attempt to play marvel rivals with them, upon downloading the game a large notification came up on the launcher that informed 13th and 14th gen users that if they are unable to load the shaders without their game crashing, they should download Intel Extreme Tuning Utility and set the Performance Core Ratio down from 55 to either 53 or 52.

I originally ignored this, attempted to download the shaders, and the game crashed. Afterwards, I attempted one final time and my screen froze up exactly as it did after loading instances in POE 2 maps. I immediately downloaded the Intel tool, changed my performance core ratio to 52, and the game ran as smooth as butter. The next day, I figured I could try POE 2 again and boom. It's running perfectly smooth on max graphics. I have minimized, opened up other applications, and streamed the game without a single crash for the last two days.

I wish I understood more about computers because Path of Exile 2 absolutely melts your cpu whenever you are loading into new areas (albeit for maybe two seconds). Please if you are an Intel users try this and see if it works. You may have to reopen the tool every time you turn on your PC but once it is on, you should have no issues.

I also have the same issue with Marvel and Black Myth: Wukong. For some reason, I experience auto-reboots or blue screens when downloading shaders in both games. However, after I lowered my performance core ratio by 2, I had no issues downloading shaders, and gameplay was fine. But I still have issues with POE 2, so I updated my BIOS because some information suggested that a new BIOS could fix CPU problems. After updating my BIOS, my performance core ratio automatically decreased by 4, and after that, all the issues disappeared. I have no idea why this is happening; my CPU is a 12600K, not a 13th or 14th generation , Window 24H2

I am writing this message from my Main Desktop PC and it scares me that this game will eventually destroy my main pc as well, the Laptop isn't charging anymore i tried removing the battery and doing a direct outlet startup but it won't even show a charging indicator.

Mutual Sequence of Events:
1. Finished Defeating a Boss in ACT1 Cruel in the Crypt
2. Warp Portal to town > Then it froze my PC.
3. Did a Hard Reset Started Back up in the Crypt.
4. Warp Portal to town > Success
5. Stayed in town organizing my Stash > game froze again after 15 minutes.
6. Did another hard reset.
7. Before booting it up again Changed Some Steam Settings on Startup
(--noasync --nologo --waitforpreload)
8. Launched POE2 > Opened task Manager > Set Affinity > Unticked 0 & 1.
9. Alt+Tab back into the game: Changed the following settings

"

VSYNC: off
Performance: Performance
Upscale Mode: FSR
Graphical Settings: Medium (All)
Display: NVIDIA GETFORCE 3050ti (Msi Monitor)

10. Launched the game by logging in > It Froze.
11. Did another hard reset and it now my Laptop won't turn on.

If gaming laptops freeze i had to completely drain the battery and boot it up as a hard reset since it turned everything unresponsive. "All the Methods to get any response don't work"

I did those Setting Changes so i could have a little control in turning the game off - if it did freeze. Now i have to bring it to the ASUS Service Center to see what really happened tomorrow i'll post more details about if the brick was caused by the constant freezing or the settings applied.

Shame we’re going into 2025 with no fix. What a waste of money

Switching to core type of hypervisor scheduler solved my problem with PC crashes.
To select a scheduler type:
1. Open a command prompt with administrator privileges
2. Enter bcdedit /set hypervisorschedulertype core
3. Reboot PC

More info there.

Trying this out, now. Will update if/when I crash.

Weird side note, the game seems to be using less memory after making this change. Could just be a placebo. (this is for POE1)

My PC froze successfully.
thank you very much.

"NVM, after a few hours, my POE2 is still experiencing the same problem, but I don't need to hard reset it now, it will auto-reboot.
It's append again, changing location, PC again hard freeze and have to unplug PC to restart, please fix it, the game is good but unplayable now..
