Hard crashing PC locks up

There was a version 24H2 Windows 11 pro and my computer constantly froze when changing locations

Rolling back from version 24h2 helped me!!! I’ve been enjoying the game for 2 days now, my AMD 5600X processor still loads at 100% when changing locations, but the computer has stopped freezing!

AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 6-Core Processor B 550 Chipset

On version 23H2 22631.4602 Freezes have stopped!

I posted a video on YouTube to get the word out and try to shed some light on this issue for myself, my friends and all the poor souls here. It wasn't exactly well received, generating mostly comments implying that it's not possible that PoE 2 is causing crashes. It's your PC. Your PC bad. PoE 2 perfect. No issues.

My trip breaker situation that I mention in the video is certainly highly questionable, but still never experienced it happening with any other (often much more demanding) game.

Do a stress test with FurMark, 3DMark, Heaven Unigine. These tests strain your pc gpu and your psu way harder than Poe 2.

cinebench 2024.
To stress test your cpu in single and multi thread. In this program you can also stress test both cpu+gpu. If you pass this torture test, there should be no problem with poe2.

For ram run Microsoft memory diagnostics, prime95. These tests will run your ram to the limit way harder than poe2 or any other game.

I run these test when I finish building my pc. PoE2 is the only game I have problems crashing. I play the latest games with no problems. Recently I ran all the torture test to see if I have defective components just to make sure the problem is not on my end. If you pass these tests there is no problem with your pc components and your trip breaker is fine.

No issues top 90% for me. I only hard freeze in this game. Well until this has hurt my pc from the 8 or so freezes.

and/or disabling multi-threading before every loading screen.

That's exactly what I do. Disable multi-threading before a load screen and enable it after the load screen. It's the best workaround I can find and a much better option than disabling 2 cpu cores outright.

Still tedious but at least my PC doesn't hard freeze anymore.

Edit: also want to mention I have an amd 5700x. I notice most of the users in this thread have amd 5xxx/7xxx/9xxx series cpu. Some Intel users have issues but they are in the minority.

I had the same problem with Poe2. Yesterday i have installed Project Lasso and managed to set option to disable Core 0 and 1 when cpu is used for more than 90% and it didnt work for me. Then i have disabled that rule and set other option.

AND NOW THE BEST PART:

I was checking other options in Project Lasso and there is one that worked for me:

Right click on Path of Exile 2 and check option to always disable Hyper-Threading in Poe2.

I have allso set Poe2 to run as administrator (files in steam folder: poe2x64.exe and poe2.exe)

And then i was able to play all day without freezes. I dont know if it work for all of You, but maybe u should try it.

My pc specs:
i9 9900k OC
32GB ram ddr4 3600 cl14
RX 7900XT
Windows 11 pro 23h2

Game settings: all default - only FSR (performance) and Vulcan, fps set to: 60.

Whats your PC specs. If you have an intel i9 13th or 14th that would instantly end the story for me lol. The trip breaker situation i would say happens a lot more than we think during gaming in a busy house. Poe spiking usage can def do that on an already existing weak house grid. Outside of poe I would get yours checked just in case? I personally would not have mentioned it in your video knowing about the fanbase.

It is also kinda telling that your commenters not familiar with the situation in this thread.

You hit the nail on the head with all 3 points.
1. I do have an i9-13900k unfortunately.
2. I have an electrician coming out soon to see what our options are.
3. The comments on that video are frustrating indeed. I should have left the breaker story out of it, but just wanted to share my experience. I'm not an expert like apparently EVERYONE else is.

Same
Ryzen 7 7800x3d, 32 GB RAM, Win 11 PRO 24h2, RTX 4080 super

I was crashing then I switched to Vulkan, never crashed again, an hour ago I switched back to DX12 and I just crashed. It always happens when loading. I can see the CPU goes to 99%. I will use Vulkan until it's fixed.

After a while it starts to freeze again. Give it a couple days. :\
My windows updated and my pc stared crashing soon after. WTF.
How the frick are the reviews Very Positive on Steam with 50k reviews. I'm so sad about this. I have a brand new, perfectly working PC and I actually made plans to play POE2 on release and everything, and then this crashing takes over and no fixes in over a week. What the??
