Hey man! Was wondering why youre running ice armor instead of mana remnants for mana regen? I was running remnants and it seems like my mana is never an issue.

Also could we get some basic gearing strats? Ive been building straight ES and was wondering if thats the way. My build is all sorts of messed up right now, i have to farm gold to respec to this build, specifically heavy frost and frost wall. I cant seem to be able to unlock frost wall though for some reason.

Thanks in advance!

its quite early for that still. various mods unlock at different levels.

freezing shards staff. no mana cost. projectiles. has some value.
staves can get +2 to cold skills. very good.

ES shields can get all spells, spell damage, etc. solid.

Wands.
I've yet to find any use for mana leech, power siphon, bone blast, etc.

sigil of power, infernal bomb...? maybe

I need to test to see if any weapon spell can be cast on crit/freeze/invoke.

armor/es/evade...

at the moment, I am leaning eldritch battery. for mana, then coupling that with damage taken to mana. either the minor passives, or possibly MOM outright.
and then mana Recoup to well recoup that.
this then means, ES is favored. es and evade/es.

Straight ES without any support for faster recharge is weak. I don't think we have the spare passives to support ES.

This is my tree. Ending act 3 now.
I use frostwall + frostbomb to stack freeze and then comet linked with hourglass.
Cast on freeze consumes too much mana and I don't know yet what speel should be used with it. As for 20% slow ascendancy, i think it doesn't work. I even picked 10% increased slow in passive tree, can't see difference.

What gems and support gems were used in Act 3? Please tell me)
frostbolt with +2 projectiles for freeze
cast on freeze comet
frost wall for bossing
2nd comet for more dmg when needed on bossing / rares
frost bomb for bossing / rares

mana is a issue but clearing is simply amazing and bossing is ok-ish.

i would take slow when it works / recoup and i think time freeze for more time with bosses.

cooldown recovery is hmm... i dont think it is actually needed anywhere. time snap also. we dont get that many cooldown skills to begin with.

---

game feels ok-ish.
i actually would like to see more diversity in skills. we dont have too much choise. if u go frost u need to use same skills as other players. same with lightning and everything else. support skills are not much diversity anyways.
What aura, ahem 'persistent buffs' works best?

In mid-Act 1 ATM, have been leaning on Ember Fusillade quite a bit for DPS, cold more for crowd control, so I took SRS. None of them seemed like they would make a big difference TBH.

BTW, in the gem engraving screen, you can uncheck 'Recommended Gems Only' at the bottom which opens up a LOT more supports to engrave. So you don't need to take flame wall just to get arcane tempo support for example, and there are some other supports I've not seen mentioned that suit cold quite well - notably 'Deep Freeze' (50% increased freeze duration!) and Execute (40% more damage on Low Life enemies).

For Act (at Manor Ramparts) one I've put Deep Freeze on Freezing Shards, and Execute on Cold Snap.
Went Temporal Rift as my first pick and it's definitely not a dead skill. Cooldown's only 6 seconds so you pretty much have a quickload button whenever you get in trouble. Also acts as a near instant full Mana refresh if you dump everything too. Stormweaver's definitely a stronger pick for offense, but with all the freeze + life recoup + slows for Chronomancer it gets very hard to die.

Near the end of Act 2 and I'm just melting through content. I didn't go multiple projectile on Frostbolt as I feel like Ice Nova with +50% freeze and +50% AoE does more than enough to keep everything frozen. I keep Conc. Effect and Hourglass on Coldsnap so it's my "DIE NOW" button for anything rare/boss. It oneshots near any rare enemy, and chunks boss HP for 30% or so everytime.

will try that, hope not gonna regret
time freeze seems a waste. boss models are stopped, most mechanics just go on. seems a waste for 4 points.

advocating for CD reset/slow and Recoup Life

isn't stormweaver a better choice for this build?

Its easy to think that. and I and pretty sure the OP both, were going full hipster, and "lets try and make this work". the good news, is it is working quite well.
Albeit, quite limited in options.

on paper stormweaver certainly seems obviously better. especially when all our skill choices are elemental.
even xbow grenades are elemental..
Chrono might be more appealing in later patches with more CD skills in other builds. particularly non-elemental ones.

scouring winds for stormweaver is just obviously super strong. +20% exposure.
fire grenade exposure, or ice bomb exposure...
20% added, raising both to 40% at base..
40% inc effect, +25% fire/cold inc effect. gives us 33% exposure. gives them, 66%. crazy good.

arcane surge... "you have arcane surge". GG. 10% more cast speed, and 20% more mana regen.
the passive tree has 75% increased arcane surge effect.
17.5% more cast speed, 35% more mana regen. just... all the time.

4s out of 12, is 33% of the time. 50% more cast speedx.33=16.5% so. not even as much cast speed on average. and, what scenario can we even make use of this pendulum effect?

stormweaver can even then invest 2 more ascendancy points for 1% increased effect per 15 max mana. (along with 8% inc max mana nodes)
how much max mana can you get? well, we don't know yet. 2000 max mana would be 133% increased arcane surge effect.
eldritch battery is on the tree.. so yea... 4000? 6000? 10000? not off the table..

so yeah, this plus MOM should make you invincible... just totally broken. the issue here isn't chronomancer, its this being totally busted.

What do we have? the 33% cd skip, and cd reset. lets us chain cast spells with cooldowns. bursty. and lets us sustain abilities that normally cant be sustained.
4s recoup. nothing compared to 50%+ more mana regen wand MoM.... but should be pretty solid.
circular heartbeat probably could be buffed. being life specific is not ideal imho. (30% of damage recouped as life, eb, or mana. whichever is higher) perhaps?

aoe slow seems pointless to me, since all slows combined are capped at 50%. this needs to break the cap, if its to be useful.
the pendulum fast cast is garbage. especially in a CD based ascendancy.
I don't see any point for time freeze. with it doing no damage, nor setting damage up.
