Cold Chronomancer Megathread. All content cleared. Leveling guide added. Low-budget build added.

Yeah so to add on to my previous. It feels really good to map with flare+nova, then filling in the manaflare 1s cooldown gaps with frostwall + invocation. Result is 1-ish spell per pack. And being able to drop snakepit for a second breachring makes the build a lot more flexible since it will support 2 rings and therefore ingenuinity then later temporalis
Hello everyone,

Thanks for your previous suggestions Monik, and as always, grateful for your continued work on the build.

I made 3 key differences from the lategame build posted on maxroll. would appreciate any feedback on them. Here's the PoB export: https://maxroll.gg/poe2/pob/euzc0549
Edit: I see export did not do justice to From Nothing jewel. It has 5 points allocated: Breaking Point, Stormcharged, All Natural, Erraticism, Touch the Arcane. Edit to edit, if you import it back to PoB it works well. Just doesn't show on Maxroll

1st, and biggest, I feel: Picked up Eternal Youth by the Dynamism cluster and I can now use a Life Flask. (I forgot those existed playing this build :D ). With Ingenuity and a Life Flask I rolled with corruption I get 560 ES instant on tap, to compensate mostly for losing the Frost Charm. Been making me less rippy. With 22% reduction of flask charges used, I get 10 taps on flask for another 5600 eHP. That meant keeping the Everlasting Gaze setup for ES tho. Roil Cluster was sacrificed to give me the points. Since Comet is less useful for clear, I figured it was the best cluster to sacrifice, but I'm not sure.

Second: I went up to Pure Power instead of down to Alternating Current. It gives me 110% extra lightning damage as oposed to 50% increased magnitude of shock. I am not sure I'm using PoB calcs right but it feels like more damage when mapping which is the goal, bosses get virtually oneshotted anyway.

Third: Megalomaniac Jewel. Don't sleep on these. i got a relatively cheap (1 div) Aspiring Genius (Arcane Surge on crit) and Vile Wounds (33 dmg on Enemies affected by Elemental Ailments. I pair it with Touch of the Arcane for 40% Arcane surge buff up by the MoM From Nothing. ideally i would like Insightfulness but that starts at 20 something div.

Next point will probably be Dampening Shield, and after I accumulate 3 points total (if i ever get to 97) They are gonna move to a new Jewel Slot.

Any thoughts on these changes are greatly apreciated.

Thank you all for making and contributing to this build!

So, no working build without any lihting spells?
Also i have a problem with CoC - it take to proc very slow, even if i have ~39% crit and using ambush, what problem can be with it?

Glad I helped :)

AtD works like a charm, but again, it's very expensive since the jewel that we are after (Int + Spirit) is also used by the attribute stacker monk/gemling lol.

anyway Monik, since I have a free slot, what skill should I put in? i have 0 spirit so no CoS or Invocation, I'm thinking idk, frost bomb? lol

Ha, I went low-budget edition with 1% max mana and 800 ES chest with remaining spirit =) 11d total, but could even fit Clarity xD This way lost 100 mana, and opportunity cost is 350 mana in comparison to 1k ES chest =) No passives tree changes tho, which I like a lot.

Was going to ask you about last skill gems lmao xD

I fit mana tempest for now, but it's kinda meh, no reason to use it at all.
Was thinking about either Frost Bomb or Flame Wall, lmao, since I do Spark.

Flame Wall would offer Echoing Flame notable tho, which is 30% increased damage out of blue.

Frost Bomb with 20% quality is better than EoW for exposure on bosses, but idk, I don't need any more damage on bosses even with Conductivity in Blashemy, and pressing 1 more button is not what I want now xD

Anyway, there ain't much besides Frost Bomb for cold build for the last slot.

Interesting. Must be hard to still fit virtuoso without the 50% resistant accords all element from the chest. Maybe with more resitance around.
yeah. sound bad. but without logging in to check.
probably not as bad as you think.

ought to hit frostbomb pretty hard. that would pop walls and generate 60-120% energy just from itself on walls.

frostbolt/fireball doesn't hit as hard, and popped walls, but didn't generate that kind of energy.

Eye of winter even less. like 5%..

and as noted before, cast on x, skills already didn't generate energy on hitting walls.

while the walls themselves will generate the energy for coc chains. which is basically unchanged for bossing.
Ok this time it's positive. They killed CoC Comet. Not gaining any energy when shattering Frost Walls with Comet.

Well:

"

- Nerf to CoC clear. Noticeable one.

- Bossing nerf is not noticeable. It's still here, but there's no practical difference at all.

- The biggest hits go to Hideout (no one will ask you for a build after the rain of comets on the walls), and Simulacrum for the medium budget.

- Low budget got hit slightly. There weren't many comets to begin with.

- End-game is whatever, I don't care.

- Rares/uniques still get CoCed.

Comets were the biggest part of the Simulacrum clear for medium-budget for sure. That's unfortunate. Other than that, everything is still fine.

Simulacrum lvl 82 cannot be cleared by a single wall detonation on a medium budget. It relies on comets even for trash mobs at waves 13-15.

Pretty good.

PoB doesn't work well with shock atm, but it feels like Pure Power is better bc it works on the 1st hit, unlike Shock which applied after the hit. However, Shock Magnitude works better against tougher enemies that require more than one hit to get killed, and it increases the damage of the entire build, not just the Spark and the lightning part of the Cold skills.

This is valid unless you actually have way more than 205 int. For int stackers, Pure Power is a ridiculously strong node.

Anyway, I agree here, Pure Power wheel does better for clear, and it's not like we need more damage on bosses on a higher end.

My build got hit hard. I rely on self-cast Comet to smash walls and generate more comets for clear. Was starting to run out of things to do, now it feels like its time to take a break. Got bad RNG choosing the triggered spells build. GGG hates it. How many nerfs were those? 3?
hi guys, so with the nerf is it worth it to start/invest on this build? i'm finishing the campaign rn,, btw any trade links i can borrow?
I will echo Monik's comments, but for frostbolt version (I don't run spark). Still does fine in simulacrum (did 6 T4s). Bossing is identical.

I also ran 20 or so maps last night to test it with a variety of league mechanics. Clear is definitely slower and more awkward due to having to break your walls with frostbolt and not rely on comet to do it. In high density environments like breach (and simu) the difference is much smaller.

I'm reasonably high budget so my experience may differ than those with lower budgets. I will say that the changes to Soul Offering are great. It is much smoother to activate on controller.

I might give nova another shot if I can get my hands on a dream fragment this week but it is very hard to detonate walls when you can't aim where the nova needs to appear (controller). Frostbolt has a projectile and just works.
