Nope, the pre-download of PoE2 should not be available for another... hm... maybe 15 to 20 minutes or so?
No need to download the PoE1 client.

Because you can't play the game on steam with standalone files, that's why. Just thinking you're smarter than anyone else doesn't actually make you smart.
You can definitley add any game(or not game) you want to steam to have the in-game overlay and such. and most of the time you CAN copy a games files into the install directory to "install" a game that was downloaded via a stand alone launcher. Most that would change is it will update the .exe's as required.
just adding a non steam game to steam library is not the same as having the steam version from that game. And it's not that easy to just download via standalone if you purchased it on steam because you dont have any login for the standalone client. Why you talking about stuff you dont even know. You have to message ggg so they can transfer your account from steam to standalone which can take a few days at worst. So What are we talking about here?
Or... listen to this... you click the steam login button and tada. you can even add an email address to use that login method from the account page.

Lol bro, your steam account is not connected to the standalone cient. if you have a steam por account you dont have login information for the standalone client, so you have to make a new account there. if you click the steam login button on your screenshot it will direct you to steam where you can login to your steam account. What are you talking mate? These two clients are not connected in any way. You have to convert your account from steam to standalone via ggg support shich takes 1-2 days from my experience in the past.

Is this coming from the PoE1 standalone client or is a new exe going to show up on the home page for poe 2 preload? I have always used Steam so new to standalone. Thanks

Why because ggg messed up the preload? Why wouldn't they give us info about the situation if it wa son steam. Exactly because it's not steam who fucked up.
Now you are making things up.
GGG gave us info about the situation, it's at the top of this thread: "We're still looking into making pre-download available for other platforms and will update this post when they become available."
That info may not be as detailed as you want, but inferring "GGG fucked up" from that is simply bogus.

Do you guys honestly think that GGG would purposely withhold pre-loading on Steam? You think they *want* to make Steam users mad?
Or is it more likely that they are unable to get Steam to agree to allow pre-loading of PoE2?
I'm pretty sure that GGG doesn't want to make a large portion of their user base angry if it is something that they can prevent.
Come on, guys, think about it a bit. You *really* think GGG is trying to make you mad? Or do you think they reached an impasse with Steam in which Steam is preventing them from offering pre-load?
Nobody is thinking GGG is trying to fuck us over we just want it said clear if its not happening for fuck sake
I mean theres definately a reason behind all of this.
The facts are, you definately can preload ea games on steam, anyone saying otherwise is lying or has no clue what they're talking about, so that's on ggg.
You can purchase the game via steam and not the official poe site so thats not the problem either.
My guess is that ggg is afraid of too many people trying to login so thay delay some for better server stability and performance, thatÄs the only thing i can think of. Anything else doesn't make sense to me. Enlighten me if you know the reason behind all this.
J. Love you got a different game to be playing right now. Beat the Lions for us first and worry about PoE2 after.[/quote]
The only lion i gotta beat is the one in my pants.
So tell us whats your issue posting here? You're not a steam user i guess so why do you care? Maybe you know what's the reason behind no preload for steam when steam doesn't hinder developers to enable a preload for their ea titles? if you're pointing out issues on other people maybe you're the one who needs to go into yourself figuring out your own problems.

This is absolutely not true.
You can link the accounts yourself. No need to go through GGG support. I just did it earlier myself.
If you don't have an existing PoE account, just create one and link it to Steam in the "My Account" section. That way you can have it logged in on https://pathofexile2.com where (according to the first post in this thread) the pre-download should become available at some point.
