Hey GGG its about time you let us start the game in hideout

On the idea that we login to town to look at mtx.

Why can't we inspect characters ingame? Let say I really like a mtx combo, how am I supposed to know what the cosmetic items are?

How come we can't see any skill mtx in town? Those are very popular.

Mtx in town is less an advert and more a bane of players trying to hear dialogue.

i get your point. please do me a favour and answer me this question:

would the game experience be improved for player enjoyment if GGG implemented it?

easy question. yes or no. dont even need to elaborate.

What a ridiculous question so no, you clearly do not get my point.

please do me a favour and answer me this question:

would the television experience be improved for watcher enjoyment if there were no commercials?

i already told you i do understand but i m dismissing it entirely and asked you a question.

simple as that. i asked you a very basic question and you havent answered it.

i actually dont need your answer anymore as your response already tells me all i need to know about you.

forums exist to provide feedback.

i want the game to be better and more enjoyable and thus my suggestion literally spells out how the game can be enjoyable.

you on the other hand like things the way they are regardless of if it can make the players enjoy the game more.

i know ggg uses it as an advertisement, i know this is a free game. be condescending all you want.

feedback is valuable. my feedback is an opinion that GGG can take into consideration. you defending GGG and pointing out that its a free game etc serves nothing.

sure poe is a free game but are you going to just give ggg a free pass like its a mobile game? mobile games are free too. diablo immortal is free too.

the fact is GGG surpasses all those free game companies. people throw money at GGG because they love the game. if you're talking 8 years ago, sure. force us to town and advertise mtx. they needed money back then, theyre a growing company.

now theyre nowhere near where they started. people even pay large amounts of money just to have a meal with the devs.

i find it weird that you think ggg still needs to resort to keep such an archaic and to be honest, pathetic way of advertising at the cost of player enjoyment when theyre at the very top of their genre.

why not stop there? why not instead of towns, people login into peoples hideouts by random? then ggg can sell more hideout decorations too.

random imp music and apparition sounds have joined the game

lol

but yeah. i actually would like an inspect button.

can you imagine a new player coming into town for the first time and seeing the town filled with weird ass exiles running around. some disguised as demons etc some even drawing stuff on the floor and this huge ass guy standing smack in the middle looking like a god. then randomly a suspicious stash becomes a monster.

ggg really decided they dont care about immersion at that point. they want money.

While we're talking about making MTXs inspectable, I'd like to revive an old suggestion I once made: Allow us to give our pets (probably non-unique) names. Sure, I'd fully expect GGG to sell the option rather than add it as a QoL, but it might be one way they could coax some support money out of me after all their shenanigans. Mouse over the pet or some such and you'd see "exsea's My Little Angel," or the like. It would allow for a level of personalization that might even increase pet sales. =^[.]^=

You still don't get it. No matter how many times you claim to understand, you absolutely do not and it's incredibly obvious that you do not. I was trying to leave you enough bread crumbs to find your way to enlightenment on your own, but it looks like that's not going to happen to it's hit-you-over-the-head-with-the-obvious time I guess:

YES, I believe that players being forced to log in to town areas makes my game experience better. And I think it makes yours better as well, and every new player, because that's what allows this free to play game to escape the usual traps you see in, to use your example, Diablo Immortal.

Which is better for the players: being forced to watch a literally 2 second long commercial on login, or having insidious Pay to Win elements baked into every single aspect of gameplay?

You need to learn how to look at things beyond the limited scope of your own personal experiences if you want to understand how things in the real world work.

whether i get it or not, you have not answered the question i posed. but i m fine with that. its a waste of each others time trying to interact.

+100

fuck yeah.

when i mhrise, i made a dog that looked like my late pet dog. but i later "retired" her. else i wouldnt be able to play.

having pet names can be fun too. i remember back in anarchy online renaming my metaphysicist pets funny names and cheering em on.

I did answer your question, actually.

It definitely explains how you're failing to understand this not-very-difficult concept if you aren't actually reading people's replies before responding to them, though.

So again, to spell it out in extremely simple terms:

The player experience would NOT be improved by allowing everyone to log in directly to their hideouts, because seeing other players in town drives the MTX sales which allow this game to be continually supported for free. Every single other avenue to compensate for this lost revenue stream would make the game objectively worse for the playerbase.

I'd be less inclined to want to avoid these "commercials" if GGG stopped trotting out loud and annoying MTX. Yes I am talking about the already-talked-to-death Goblin Troupe.

It's reaching the same point where I haven't turned on the TV in my house in years, because I can't stand how repetitive and annoying commercials have become.
PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.

Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build!

MFers found strength in their Afflictions. They became reliant on them. I am not so foolish.

THANK YOU FOR SIMPLIFYING IT SO I CAN UNDERSTAND

lol

all the chatter about me not understanding was a waste of your time, when it was not apparent on you answering the question.

anyway. you're coming from a financial driven point of view which yeah you may be right. we obviously dont have the numbers.

but look. i dont believe you're dumb. youre a pretty smart guy. i m pretty sure you understand i m coming from PLAYER ENJOYMENT POV. do i need to spell it out to you or are you going to continue purposefully avoiding answering the question from the POV that i m asking.

without doubt. if the game fails and GGG goes out of business, it definitely is detrimental to player enjoyment as the game may just not even exist offline and go poof entirely. thats a total NO BRAINER.

i dont know if ive already done this but ive already mentioned how successful GGG is that they might not even rely on players "looking at other players mtx".

you've hidden your profile but i m pretty sure you've given GGG money. streamers throw money at GGG. players throw money at GGG. GGG in fact has it's greatest advertisements whenever new leagues are announced.

i m pretty sure ALL POE players check it out and will view the supporter packs for both league and core packs.

then we can analyze. WHO would actually spend cash on the game to buy fashion MTX.

Whales
Fashionistas
Others/People wondering what to buy with their spare points

It would be logical to assume that whales would buy mtx regardless of "advertisements" as they would have excess points they would actively look at the store for things to buy.

Fashionistas are similar, they actually would be on the lookout for ANY new mtx announcements or new uniques that they can incorporate into their look. There's an argument to be had that fashionistas would actually benefit from going to town but usually fashionistas are almost whales where their wallets loosen up easily and would be checking out the store similar to whales but with more focus on fashion mtx. These people would tend to check out the vids and even forum posts of people wearing certain gear.

This brings us to an interesting proposition. Would it be logical that ANYONE who has POINTS would check out the in game store?

Would it also be logical that people who have points would want to make their purchase worth it?

And thus wouldnt those people want to check the entire catalog of every single MTX in the game and also scrutinize the point cost?

Isn't that a very logical theory?

As I have pointed out. we're in 2024. its a decade since GGG launched. I've mentioned many times how things are not the same as back then when POE was an unknown indie game. in fact POE kinda looked like shit, one of my friends actually uninstalled the game once he reached a1n1. but came back once ggg improved the graphics.

the game has grown. the community has grown. the technology has grown. the amount of revenue GGG gains has grown too.

we have gone VERY FAR from how we began. back in the annals of time i remember when i had to buy POINT PACKS. you remember those? now we have league supporter packs that bring way much more value. GGG is no longer "selling point packs" the way they used to. instead theyre selling "supporter pack upgrades".

its logical to assume the average player IF they saw something they liked, they would buy a league supporter pack and probably get a low tier one. if they wanted more points they would be incentivized to upgrade their pack and spend more money.

when i talk average, i m talking average person who would want to spend the least amount of money on gaming. if we're talking people with looser wallets, they'll upgrade themselves to become whales or fashionistas.

from that itself you can see that the ways of selling stuff has changed.

back in "the old days". ggg actually had fashion highlights. the concept was "hey players, checkout these cool mtx combos so you can buy our points to buy our mtx"

now its totally changed to. "hey guys our new league is starting soon, heres the league info. oh btw, checkout our cool new supporter packs which gives you points which you can spend".

notice that its 2 very different trends. they no longer NEED to advertise cool combos anymore.

do you remember the LAST TIME ggg held a fashion competition? i bet you cant. well at least i cant remember. i also cant remember the last time ggg featured anything related to promoting interesting combos.

GGG USED to do that. back in the day they used to do that to advertise because they needed to sell point packs.

its pretty apparent that GGG DOESNT NEED to advertise this way anymore as they advertise their supporter packs AND IT WORKS to a great degree.

the supporter packs comes with a huge lot of interesting features and has a very high "point to dollar" conversion value that any players would immediately see that its more worth buying a supporter pack.

wouldnt it be logical that if they were still using their old advertising model that they would still hold more "fashion competitions" or "fashion highlights"?

the reality is they dont need to. people are already buying their supporter packs. and thus it will lead them to "want to spend points" in the store.

as i said. the game has grown. it is not the same as before, the trend is not the same as before. yet as smart as you are you're still stuck with living in the past with the old mindset of how things used to be.

for sure. its logical that the towns/hubs forced players to see others as advertising "back then". but as i've pointed out back in my very first post. they no longer need to do that.

ggg's marketing strategy is brilliant. they evolved their business so that they only need to focus on selling supporter packs. buying specific mtx will happen naturally when players who buy packs seek ways to spend the points.

but for sure. ggg sure cant afford to get rid of town advertising right? its not like people like us support the game right?

ggg still are relying on people buying point packs so they sure need to do all the advertising they can right?

lol
