Hey GGG its about time you let us start the game in hideout

coming off the "hey ya jerks thread" where people are asking for the removal of "respawn in town button". heres my take

hideouts did not exist back in diablo1. it made sense "back then" where players spawned in town and whenever they died one of the default options is to spawn in town.

ggg also wanted to force players to be forced into town so that they would check out other player's cool mtx.

Dear GGG. look at me. i spent a lot of money on mtx. i have ZERO interest looking at other people's mtx. i have ZERO interest in going to campaign town.

i have ZERO interest in having my pc load an area that i DONT NEED to even be in. i have ZERO interest in having my pc lag loading other players character assets when i DONT CARE about all of them.

remember your beloved trade manifesto where u wanted players to spend more time playing the game than actual trading? this applies here. the time spent in town is LITERALLY WASTED TIME as all we want to do is get back into our HO or right back into the map.

while we're at it please let us start the game in hideout.

its 2024. you dont need shady tactics to force players to check each other out.

you're definitely not short of fans. you're not short of money. you're not a "struggling indie forced to compromise your vision tm in order to maintain a playerbase to get funding".

people are literally throwing money at you for overpriced MTX.

the game is 10 years old and you've already built a solid fanbase.

why do you insist on keeping this ARCHAIC mechanic. you led the evolution of diablo clones to new heights to the point that mechanically it looks like diablo franchise is still stuck in highschool hanging out with all the coolkids while POE is out there building interstellar rocket ships.

you guys came up with hideouts. something that NO OTHER current ARPG i care to remember has. even D4 the "closest rival" doesnt have hideouts.

why are you insisting on making your game WORST for its players. fuck marketing. we give you our money willingly and trust that you do the right thing.

public parties still exist. streamers exist. "irl friends" exist. forums exist.

theres many places players can view other player's mtx.

comeon! and for the mods. for sure i m pretty sure theres a ton of other similar topics that already exist but i m creating this new topic anyway because i think its something that should have been done a long time ago and yet you guys are still stubbornly choosing not to do so.

this is not subjective. the game is objectively better if we have the option to start the game in hideout. and having the option to outright REPLACE revive in town with revive in hideout should be a thing.

while we're at it. one reason why i dont do heist is heist "town" area can be laggy because of your choice to load other players in.

POE is an ARPG. not an MMORPG.

one reason why i have DISDAIN towards D4, is because they have activities that are mainly built around MP. world bosses was the start of it. and now they introduced some new mechanics that require a COMPETENT team.

lets not go too deep into that. i play POE single player mostly because i come from d1 where i played solo and without Bnet. i play in my free time and i dont WANT to interact with other players unless i really have to. but i do tend to troll around on global once in a while.

besides that. we've come a long way to where we are now. its time to be more gamer centric rather than marketing centric. be the arpg leader you are and make the game better.

also, i'd point out. how is it immersive for a new player, who is an exile. got washed up, survives his way to town and see players decked out in various MTX.

i d say it CAN be fun but for new players it can be very jarring.

oh wait do i have to digress and point out how GGG is actively selling mtx to TROLL other players on purpose? the noisy pets etc. valdo's maps and even the voidborn keys. opening one up to get a "foil" unique map is 100% a troll item.

if players only bought the pack and only bought t0-1 uniques the value of a valdos box would be much greater but no. they chose to spend a gazillion bucks to make the game worse for other players.

Honestly it would be nice because every league I try to find that town with no one in it, like act 7.

Finally I can be free of the Goblin troupe.

On this note I wouldn't them having Helena set or login location. Would be easy breezy for them to do.

Maybe GGG could add social areas to the game and keep town more immersive for the storyline/etc.

How about this old idea:
"Event Square:
The Event Square is a new social area available to players of all levels used to access the event shop and any relevant path of exile events, the latest cosmetic items and previews of the newest hideouts will be on display here as a sort of try before you buy good faith gesture."

Would also show people challenge rewards and all that fun stuff.

It sure feels like that sometimes lol though so far i haven't been driven to madness in town except for that one core pack with the portal effect in town which basically deafened everyone and stacked with more people using it even if you weren't in the party.

tbh i wouldnt mind if ggg reintroduced more in game events such as how they did events previously and i wouldnt even mind if it forced MP for participation.

problem is for many players going MP involves "cross server" interaction which introduces lags on a connection level. and we're not even talking about additional resources taken for loading additional characters. then on top of that we're not even talking about the game lagging when players start spamming their skills.

i believe POE's current infrastructure does not facilitate such MMO capabilities. it would be cool there were community events where the devs came in and just interacted with players and could host stuff like an mtx competition or something (which can utilize your square idea). but they simply cant. like it or hate it, players also lack non combat actions and /dance is locked behind a paywall. if they wanted to make the game more social they would have to take the game more in to d4's direction.

i have no real suggestions tbh because i really am not a social gamer. lol.
