Iron Reflexes or not?
42% phys damage reduction plus 76% evasion or using Iron Reflexes for 90% phys damage reduction. On a 65/65 block Shadow lightning strike build. Have tested both and i really cannot see any difference.
Primarily running T16 8 mod maps. Thanks. Last bumped on Oct 5, 2024, 8:44:11 PM

the more armor you have the more ES you will gain when you block with aegis so...i would go with iron reflexes.

Depends on how much armor you actually gain. It's a lot it's worth it but if you barely gain much it's better to stick without the keystone and look for some other sources to top your physical damage reduction while maintaining a decent evasion chance on top.
Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.

Thanks, that makes sense. As i stated in OP phys damage reduction goes from 42% to 90% using Iron Reflexes.

I think point ppl trying to make is the ES you gain on block is important part. It's only a small % of your armor and if by taking IR you only gain like 10k armor it's not going to do that much in that regards.
I think in the past builds that used aegis generally did so for the ability to use melding to gain 90% all resist not so much for the ES on block it was just a second thought of it. I don't think trickster should work in melding or anything but aegis on a trickster is sort of trolling damage wise and possibly even defensively depending on how much you put into it passive point wise. " I mean in flat value of your evasion and armor, not the percentage chance. Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.

That 90% is a lie. Its an estimated damage reduction vs a small physical hit. If you go to poewiki and search armor, it gives some examples of how it works against larger hits.

" To have 42% PDR on t16 maps, you need ~4.4k armour To go from this to 90% PDR with Iron Reflexes, you must have ~46.6k evasion? But to have 76% evasion on t16 maps, you need ~26.6k evasion Actual Math does not align to what I can only assume you're using, which is the in-game character sheet? I've checked your character and Iron reflexes isn't really worth it in your case as you don't really convert a lot evasion into armor to gain a notable difference.
The very tiny bit of ES gain on block like the one guy suggested is bait as you don't really profit much out of the one spend point unless you really go deep invest into evasion and armor via mageblood flasks with determination aura. But every average non mageblood build would be better of to not waste the one point for the little armor gain. Spellbreaker and ghost dance along with spell suppression would be a better approach for you to get a good ES sustain and phys reduction can be handled over various other ways like endu charges, craft on body armor. Aegis is only good if you make use of the max resistance along with a melding, else it really is kinda meh and a bit of a bait trap unless you play some armor focused build on the left side and gain a lot more out of it right away via capped block without Versatile Combatant, or just via a mageblood. Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.

i get +17K armor with iron reflexes. i think thats pretty good for just 1 point investment, but to each their own.
