yeah dude, poe is a loot based arpg. It consists of many systems to get that loot, some are more complex than others.

Loot pinata in arpgs stands for the most simplistic of those systems, where you literally whack a pinata and shiny stuff drops out of it. If that's your jam, you should take a look at this game that starts with d as in dump.

Some time ago I made a topic about div/h=fun, and for some people, all they care is divines/hour. It was the only metric of the fun they had - how much div/h. Some couldn't even comprehend, that other players could play for challenge, builds or anything else.

Honestly, people. Look at the topic title, see nothing but opinion amounting to 'this looks too complicated for me because I like it simple' (and there's nothing wrong with that), nod and smile and say something nice like 'okay' and move on. FWIW I agree with arandan. GGG have been looking for ways to rinse-and-repeat the basic loot pinata system for years in creative, clever ways. Sometimes it lands. Sometimes it doesn't. But given they need to keep it fresh every league, I think it's foolish, selfish and short-sighted to ask why they don't just do the same thing every time.

I'd wager this game would be all but dead if they had. Certainly, the game is far too bloated with loot pinata gimmicks now. Has been for years. But that doesn't mean they shouldn't be using the league system to fully explore just how many iterations of the 'loot pinata' they can create.

This forum would be a much more pleasant place if more people could realise they're not the only one playing (or not playing) the game, and that everyone has different ideas of what's fun, engaging, challenging...or boring, deterring and easy.

And addicts are, at the best of times, far from the most reliable critics of a product.

And you think GGG are going to read any of this and go, 'oh no we were wrong to try a different gimmick this league because these people who play every league no matter what we do might quit'?
