" In this scenario you're comparing a company to a game? By that logic, POE GOOD BLIZZARD BAD Does that mean GGG BAD POE GOOD D4 GOOD BLIZZARD BAD Is there a direct correlation between company health and game health? | |

" It's true that neither of us can prove either way how much or how little Tencent is involved. But I stand by my "assumption". It is a far more realistic "assumption" that the 100% owners have control or at least partial control over the company. Especially when they hold the majority of seats on the board which makes ALL the decisions for the game. This, along with just a general principle that if someone owns something, they are going to control it to meet their ends. Not to mention the fact that previously GGG only needed to answer to their players and themselves, whereas now they have to answer entirely to a profit-driven massive company. Things feasibly cannot just stay status quo with such an enormous power shift. It's not about tinfoil hat conspiracies or anything of the sort: its just basic common sense of ownership and corporate greed. Tencent didn't buy GGG out of the goodness of their heart just to give them money, nor is it a realistic prospect that a single game, then already 6 years old when Tencent started buying up stock, over a decade old will continue to generate the same or higher levels of revenue on its own. ***It's also not about "bad" or "good". I still like the game and still play, so all of this tencent control (or not) is on the "good" side of things for me. Control and direction are separate from subjective judgments of character. You can stand by your assumption all you like and call it "common sense" but it remains an opinion informed by your personal bias, a gut feeling. There may or may not be merit to it.
The only thing they would get involved with is profit, and thus monetization. We're talking MTX and supporter packs there, which have seen an evolution over time. More special effects and such rather than reskinning armour, skill mtx and such. But we already had supporter packs, stash tabs and loot boxes before Tencent. The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.

" Yes. You can wait, while ppl farm 10+mirrors 1 session. |

Think they are just kinda bored with keeping an old game going, a lot funner to make something newer.
It would be cool if they hired extra developers who focused on PoE1, the game people actually play. |
