they re making a new game called POE2. most of the resources are dedicated to POE2.

as of such the recent leagues are really hit or miss.

that said, i would say GGG has ventured into a new territory with temp leagues. previously players could rest assure whatever gear or player power (non crafting materials/keys etc) would carry over to standard.

nowadays we dont know that anymore as ggg could announce the gear would go poof mid/end league.

ggg is no longer meticulously planning out leagues as they did before.

but to give credit to where credit is due, the content in temp leagues can be much more detailed than how it is previously with content coming from poe2 assets.

to be fair the leagues have alot of content even the recent ones, what they are lacking is testing, going to 3 month cycle would make it even worse

yeah that could be the case. they have tons of ideas but lack the manpower to test.

also the crux of poe is it's very own nature. GGG could have PTR like d4 but due to players in POE being ultra competitive (due to how the economy works), finding the meta or finding exploits would result in self serving attitudes. for example if i found a recipe to make mirrors, i would never share it to the community. thus, ggg cant afford to make PTRs for testing.

on a similar note, i would also point out we actually DO have a PTR. one thing many players seem to have forgotten that the one of the original intents behind temp leagues was for ggg to test game mechanics for a few months before being implemented into core/standard.

if you look back at the early POE leagues, the content was "safe" do this, get reward. simple and compartmentalized. the newer leagues introduced increasingly elaborate mechanics where the pay off happens much later.

now in the recent years, the league mechanics seems to be more... reckless.

i actually blame chris for this. he started it with harvest. which gave so much player power it in a way made players expect more player power from temp leagues, which in turn made GGG more reckless in introducing more player powers which would be hard to balance.

leagues used to be 3 months and not 4 months like its in the past year+
No events at all?
feels like PoE2 really push Poe1 down/

idk if its only me but im not hype about poe2 , poe1 is so perfect for me , and i almost got 12k hours of gameplay (only on steam^^)

Its easy, they are not the original developers, ggg was adquired by other company in 2018 and they only care about making money, numbers, not about player´s experiece, which is sad... I´ve seen this happen to so many former great games and in the end greed just turns an awesome product into commercial garbage, I hope that poe doesnt get that bad but... wow, d4, blizzard? you get the picture

You are completely wrong and spreading misinformation.

10 Cent Games acquired a Majority ownership stake in Grinding Gear Games. However, they are not in control of the creation of Path of Exile or Path of Exile 2.

it's still the same developers, the same talent.

Get your facts right before you spread falsehood.

And you are only partially right as well, spreading misinformation as you claim. Tencent owns 100% of GGG now, not a majority share. 100%. As such, no matter what you want to believe, they are also 100% in control of the creation and development of the games. We don't know the exact amount of leeway they provide, but its business 101 that the owners make final decisions.

You are right that SOME of the same talent still exists, but they no longer own the game they are working on. They don't have the same financial and physical drive or connection to the product. And, due to new ownership, are likely forced into very different design avenues.

As you so rudely put it..."get your facts right before you spread falsehood."

Being owned by Tencent doesn't mean they take reigns over your business decisions. They buy profitable game studios and let them continue doing their thing. The chinese client is handled by a Tencent dev team for all the extra stuff that goes on top of the regular PoE client

The only people truly affected by the takeover are the OG owners like Chris, Johnathan, Erik and Brian. Two of them still sit on the board of directors, alongside 3 execs from Tencent.

While this MAY be true, it most certainly is not provable. And it is far MORE likely that the owners absolutely take control over the final product, marketing, target audience, etc. They aren't going to buy a company outright and just....sit there.

Even with your own info, there are 2 OG GGG employees on the board and THREE tencent. They have a majority voice even on the board.

"Doesn't mean they take reigns over your business decisions" is wishful thinking at best, naivete at worst. If anyone in the world were to buy something, be it a business or a simple product, they will absolutely exert a form of control thanks to their newfound ownership. And the larger the company, such as tencent, the more likely they are to steer the company towards higher profits at all costs. That is their sole interest and the reason why they bought it.

But it is also true that they might not be doing anything....that's just so incredibly unlikely.

You cannot prove a negative, and you have no evidence to substantiate your own claim. You're leaning too heavy on assumption to make a call-out such as calling me naive. Dare I say it's impudent? I think I do.

If you have anything substantive but guesswork to offer we can go from there, but I see little avenue for anything productive coming from this

The good ol' Tencent memes and theories hoho
Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.

I think things started to fall apart when GGG began liking hard-shell tacos, when the world obviously prefers soft-shell tacos.
Real problem to me is lack of races and events, i didn't care if a league was long if there was multiple events to keep me interested.
