books? you talk of ancient texts! lol

been a while since i engaged in books. at most i listen to audiobooks but have evolved to just listening to podcasts.

tho at times i tend to like reading video game lore.

grim dawn has a ton of notes scattered around the world and some dude compiled it into a pdf and i havent even finished that.

Yeah, they're not exactly compelling literature. I found those notes distracting and annoying as I played GD. Really clunky way of delivering lore in a game that's mostly action and item management. Click, get xp, move on.

Which is a shame because it's a pretty interesting setting, as unique to the genre as the devs' other ARPG, Titan Quest.

Can't do podcasts really. Did a lot of This American Life during lockdown. Some fiction podcasts like Nightvale I guess. But I find most of them too deep-divey for my likes. Good if you're REALLY into something, I suppose. Also I like to listen to music while reading/writing so podcasts don't really help there.
If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period.

i think having podcasts kinda spoilt me tbh, there was a time i binged warhammer 40k lore where the caster explained the lore behind a faction or a division etc.

nowadays i listen to lighthouse horror while driving to/fro work. theres another channel where a guy covers SCP casefiles as tho he is a lecturer and you're his student. besides that i also binge a lot of mr balen and other "diving/caving" tragedies.

nutty putty is really bad.

Have to admit, Control made me a pretty big fan of the SCP concept but I find most of it kinda silly. Did kick me into a Fringe rewatch though.

I really enjoyed Alice Isn't Dead. Same writer as Nightvale, much more focused and short (ish). And of course non-fiction classics like Serial and S-Town.

As for 40k, that's a toughie. It's interesting lore and I love its parody 80s origins but honestly the only word I can come with for the super hardcore fans who don't get that it's all meant to be taken ironically is 'cringe'. But random space-latin yelled into the void while mincing xenos? Sure, fun times. Space Marine II is looking pretty damn good!

**** I Started the "HERE HERE" Movement
Dead, huh? I am still playing, having some fun, finding folks to trade with for the things I need, and responding to trades for things they want.

Is "dead" relative then? So, maybe not Dead dead?
