Can i buy POE 1 as an offline game
" WHEN they abandons it MABY it will happen. At least i hope so. I am one of those who wish for PoE offline game became reality.
Even if GGG decides to not develop PoE"1" further they will very likely just put it on life support and cycle previous leagues every couple months. It works just fine for D3. They would not put in the tremendous amount of work and resources required to realize a offline version, much less release the source / files for you to build your own.
Just the very notion of comparing PoE to GD in that regard is absurd. Be realistic people. Last edited by Ulsarek on May 9, 2024, 3:57:15 AM

" Blizzard pribably can do that, mega company with lots of money. I think poe 1 really should become offline, even as fast as possible if poe2 is really really good and its no way the players return to poe1 or/and new players like poe2 more. If poe 1 is holding up resources that also mean that poe2 is getting less. If ggg loose money going the blizzard way with poe1 on a life line, then they should make a offline version instead 100 %. ( d3 should be abandoned now imo, d4 is too similar and i assume much better, zero point to play d3 if d4 exist, d2 is another story its different than d3&d4 ).
"Respectfully, you have no idea what you are talking about or how these businesses operate. Keep dreaming though, an offline version won't happen for the same reason you don't have full reign over league content and mods in private leagues. PoE 1 as a live service game is doing very good, generates a metric fuckton of profits and will continue going to do so for years to come. And with that I'm out of this topic. " ok, then you are out. You are talking about now, yes poe1 as online works pretty good. Bad servers though. We dont know what will happen when poe2 releases and ggg is not as wealthy as blizzard. GGG must do whats best economically. Making poe1 as offline, thats a full priced game minimum because poe1 is a huge game and worth more than average full priced games, the leagues can be dlc, thats even more money to ggg. I hope ggg will become a huge company
Everyone says GGG this and GGG that. Shouldn't we be saying Tencent?
I poop, therefore I am.

Good idea, release source code so I can host my own servers and achieve bigger CCU than official Stuck In The Past Vision :)
Note to self: shortlist of things to fix first 1) remove exp penalty. Maybe add it back after long work of fixing mobs is done. Currently it kills any desire to experiment. 2) new trading system. Client already has UI for showing MTX lists, trade can work off that base. 3) loot. Ooof this will be tough to fix, with GGG pretending that "dropping full screen of items no one ever looks at" is normal. Should revamp item generation so base loot would be better, but make crafting less powerful, so minmaxing this loot would still be relatively expensive and serve as gold sink. 4) boss design. Anyone seen other game where bosses happily camp inside their ground degens (or lycia staff hazards) for unknown period of time and keep shooting player from there while player cannot approach them in melee at all? Seriously, this is some indie-grade gameplay. Bosses should avoid impassable areas, and even if that fails, hazards around their destination should be despawned. 5) player skills parity. Lots of underperforming skills to boost, lots of busted interactions to cap. 6) QoL. Hideout identifying station, aoe pickup hotkey, MTX pet pickup, "stash all" button with filters, etc. |

Luckily GGG is in charge of the game designing and not the community, else we would have just another terrible game like D4 on the market and the arpg hack&slay genre would be entirely dead. At this point it's good that they stick to their own vision and not the delusional vision of the 0.01% of always unhappy and skill bottlenecked players. :) Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.

Yep, Vision is definitely not for that 0.01%, but for another 0.01% of players willing to get PhD in theorycrafting and then drape themselves in 3rd party services and push through one grindwall after another to implement the theory. How many years had passed before current "poe upper class" obtained their level of mastery?:)

" Luckily you are not in charge i say I know what i like and dont like, its that simple really. I dont need anyone telling me what i should like or not. Lol i never said i was going to turn poe1 into d4. Just tweaking it because it sure as f needs it. Another thing do you play video games to have fun at all? What is the point of a video game, you are spending your time, do you want that time to be quality? |
