the end
" Sometimes the sequel is so bad that people flock to the original in greater numbers. Example: Command & Conquer 3 and 4, Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance and Supreme Commander 2, etc.
Honestly if POE added:
Autopickup Currency AuctionHouse No Required Campaign (at least after first run through league) Made Crafting slightly simpler Improved Performance Remove more AuraBots It's over, POE has me for life.
LE only poses a small threat. Once people are done with the campaign and played the "endgame" for a few days or weeks they will realize that it's missing A LOT. If ever PoE player numbers are looking bad they can make some drastic changes like autopickup of currency or even a trade revamp. Several Aces up their sleeve.

poe will, die when they shut the servers down and only keep poe2. they will keep both games for a while just to see how poe2 does and if it does well then i dont see them keeping both games for too long. they wont be able to keep up with the league cycles for 2 games.

" The problem with auto pickup of currency is that you'll end up running out of inventory room before you can even reach the boss of each map. Then you waste potentially even more time sorting your loot and biffing what you don't want, as opposed to picking up what you do. It would only work if you could sort by value what gets picked up. Trade isn't going to change. No way. We're nearly at 13 years since the very early days of PoE Alpha in 2011. The only changes made to the experience is that now we have an online platform instead of using the forum, or trade channels to trade. The core principle of trade is still the same though. Advertise, invite, trade. I'm struggling to come up with new goals to keep me playing this game.

LE is zero threat at the moment. Maybe in two years if they can maintain goodwill and churn out a bunch of content. I enjoyed the beta when I played and I hope to jump back in when I have time but it's going to fizzle to nothing when the new PoE season comes out. (Hope I'm wrong. Competition is good and PoE has none right now.)

I'm playing LE for the first time, and gotta say the dialogue, and story is....uninspired? I love the premise of the story of LE, but the dialogue is pretty bad in comparison to PoE. I must say I love the lore of PoE and think the narrators are S tier storytellers. Last Epoch is nowhere near GGG's level. They're telling the story like its audience is somewhat illiterate. Everything needs to be spelled out for you all the time. It's making the campaign grind a lot less enjoyable than my first few playthroughs in PoE. That said, this is just my opinion. I'm a hardcore PoE lover, and the only "PoE killer" for me would be if something like wisp farming and all its insanity went core. Softcore trade would be broken for me.

Played LE since beta and played Poe since beta. They are completely different games targeting different players. LE is more new user friendly, Poe is definitely not. Therefore LE will be played more by players that has less time to play games generally and Poe by OGs or returning players at the beginning of a league. Since most of casual players won't even get close to Poe's endgame content, pretty much every casual player will get to the endgame in LE.
What is more fun depends on how much people actually want and can spend time in the game. But Poe has some quality that LE doesn't and LE has something that Poe hasn't. LE definitely isn't a Poe killer. But we can expect big things from LE since 1.0 content isn't really nowhere close to being bad. Last edited by lukaskodlos on Feb 22, 2024, 10:04:58 PM
