Upgraded my 1060. It looks like a brand new game.
" You're talking about a general case. You have to be more precise here. So it depends on exact examples. and new hardware that has just come out will be extremely expensive. So you have to dig very deep into your pockets. and there are websites (think tomhardware or whatever it's called) where you can compare hardware and see approximate performance boosts. Often the price/performance doesn't convince me at all. And the man above writes very important things. Because if the players compensate for lousy engine performance with overpriced hardware, then the devs don't need to bother at all. And the game looks rather ugly compared to other top seller games, but eats up several times more fps.
" Yes. especially remember half-life 2! first class masterpiece from the devs. They mixed 2D with 3D and not only programmed a very extremely good looking game, but also with extremely high fps for that time. The games are about ILLUSION of a game world and not about real life simulation with meaningless calculations in the background.
" Shader compilation has no effect on compiled shaders and overall performance. If you watched Alex's stream in the past, the dev literally says the game has TONS of performance issues which they want to fix but have limited resources to do that. There is no reason to excuse the game and blame users for having 2 y.o. crads which are supposed "outdated" by some forum users when the minimum and recommended requiremens are WAY bellow we have today. PS I forgot, their main visual programmer (Alexander Sannikov) has no dedicated grade and had rating 3 out of 5 in his logbook while hating to study. Watch CARDIFF interview and stop blaming users and/or hardware for no reason. They basically don't have good specialists. Last edited by cursorTarget on Feb 10, 2024, 6:26:10 PM

" The man above has no idea what he's talking about. It's just the average person who gets upset about less optimal frame rates and perform on a heavily outdated or unoptimized rig cause they still think that they play the same game from 2012. It's true that other games might offer more fps, but those games also have a lot less going on the screen after all (D4 as example to stay within the same genre) But the game is optimized enough that you get to stay above a enjoyable framerate even during giga juiced maps in case you use a somewhat decent and up2date rig. And no, up2date doesn't mean the latest shit like a 4090 cause that's not what it takes to enjoy the game properly. Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.

I like to see forum posts where ppl argue with Alexander Sannikov statements about bad game performance in its current state. You're completely out of touch.

GG is no different from a lot of Devs out there, where everything is tested on a high end rig and optimised for when you can run everything on high.
Meanwhile, with my horribly outdated system I'm running everything at the bottom end of the selectors and the game looks bad. That I am happy to compromise on, but it also gets me killed at times because I literally cannot see in the shadows. Sirus fight is the worst example of this. Just give me a damn brightness slider in my settings and I'd be OK with that. |

" ...I'm sorry, what? What is this sentence meant to mean? - "play it on 1080 becuz game like this still doesnt look at 4k?" Do you know how many 1080 resolutions can fit inside 4k? 1080p is almost 20 years old at this point. Unless on a small screen, it just looks terrible. Yes, this game's heavily CPU reliant. I'm struggling to come up with new goals to keep me playing this game. Last edited by hmcg020 on Feb 11, 2024, 6:01:11 PM

I don't think there is good solution available on the market to run this spaghetti code game with consistent 4K@144Hz mode. Probably dual (SLI) RTX 4090 or wait 6090.

PoE can behave quite weirdly at times and it might not have to do with user hardware at all. Also, in my experience the game can be CPU OR GPU-limited depending on certain situations.
Last leaque I played RF and SRS poison without any issues at all. Then, when I played wardloop I started getting these crazy lag spikes and thought to myself maybe my hardware can't handle all the fireworks from wardloop. But, I randomly switched to fullscreen by accident at one point and all the lag disappeared. This is just one example of the randomness of performance when it comes to PoE. Someone I know with a GTX 1660 was getting weird lag spikes in the starting beach area. I knew it couldn't be his card because my old GT640M runs PoE better than that.
Fullscreen gives an app all control over whats display on the monitor. It‘s one of the easiest ways to improve performance without buying better hardware. Bonus points for lower resolution
The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.
