GGG has taken the first step.

The reality is different people want different games.

What is good for one group is not necessarily good for all, or good for the overall game.

In that sense, there is no "good for the game", there is only good for the majority of players.

And no one, not people with a lot of achievements, not GGG, speaks for the majority of players.

I would counter that the people with high achievements are a tiny minority, and therefore less in touch with players and the majority than most people posting.

Therefore, your concerns are very likely niche and not really relevant to the majority of players, or "the game" overall.

Granted, you can absolutely speak to the high end of the game or endgame, but if that's not what others experience, then you know very little of the average game experience.

Simply put - you are completely out of touch with the normal player and have as no significant relevance on the normal gaming experience in PoE.

I hope the hypocrisy in your words isn't lost on you.

And why do you think I'd be unable to be empathetic to the struggles of new players? I was one too at some point.

If GGG only did what the majority of players wants and cater to the casual audience the game would look much different. It would probably be more successful both in player numbers and revenue, but it wouldn't be a game I enjoy. In that, you could call me selfish to not want that. I'm certainly not immune to that, and I shouldn't be. After all, I too want to enjoy the game. But it goes to show that whatever the majority of players wants isn't always the best for the game GGG wants to make
The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.

Totally agree on that one.

There's a lot of people that confuse GGG as a company that wants to make a game for "normal" people. That is not the case AT ALL.

GGG is founded by a subset of VERY hardcore Diablo2 players from back in the day with the goal to make a game that they, as hardcore players, would enjoy.
That's why the game is as cumbersome and full of stepping stones. GGG stated as such multiple times.
Of course they want to earn money aswell, which is why they try to open up the game as much as possible to a more casual audience, but in it's heart it will always be catered towards people that put in alot of hours. (without compromising it's vision)

Obviously there's alot of games out there, that do cater to the majority of gamers... but there is not alot that don't. Which is why the more "hardcore" PoE players try to keep it that way... even if it means living with some bullshit.
