GGG has taken the first step.

Step 1. Decentralization of power (itemization of services).

Step 2. Balancing trading (give everyone a bit of that bot/rmt power by giving insta trades).

Step 3. Equality of Arms (buy orders / sell orders / trading house / in-game real time global trade charts). Just look at Eve online or Tarkov or any other successful trading and make it PoE.

... and I get it! anyone that played D3 RMAH still has a sour taste in their mouth, but nobody is asking for that.

... also, if you think step 3 is not necessary think again. Every other private tool already does this to an extent, YOU just have no access to it.

On top of these changes and depending on how GGG implements a trading system we might need an escrow service.

Currently, we have an escrow service that works like this:

A wants item X
B wants item Y
C is entrusted with everything and does the trade A and B want.

Instead of that garbage system, we can implement what we already have in real life.

A wants X
B wants Y
C is an institution (NPC / object)

No trust is required because C will do the trade as soon as the conditions are met.

As for our current trade system "Price # chaos". That text box has 41 characters. You guys can generate a unique identifier with 2 dates in UNIX timestamp format and still never run out of trades. You can open it and close it at a certain time just like a stock exchange. Or you can leave it open 24/7. Either way. You (GGG) can already look into this.

I feel like every person against instant trading system is eitheir :

- Chris Wilson (or anybody stuck in 2000 still thinking poe should be diablo 2)
- A botter who wants to keep their advantage and not letting anyone have a taste of it
- Someone that is not far enough in the game with high end game build/items that need dedicated trading to get, and think farming a bit then sell/buy is enough
- a 24/7 nolifer who want to gatekeep

Anybody who have traded enough in poe is sick of this system and wants something to be done. Finally seing GGG taking some action is nice, if poe 2 get all of that but not poe 1, I will insta quit poe 1.
I feel like GGG is fearing a bit about Last Epoch coming soon with a real system for either trade or SSF and GGG is about to loose their casual player base, and it's that player base that make them money.

Anyone who have played eve online knows that a dedicated trading system will not destroy path of exile in any way, because eve online does that and eve online is played by high end nolifer groups like PoE and is fine, hell, the economy is healthy even for high sec casual because of insta buy/sell order everywhere in the game.

Or just player with enough experience out of other games to already know about all the problems a instant buy system can cause. But I'm sure people are so thrilled about dealing with more market manipulation, bots and more rmt fiesta just for the sake of having a "instant buy" feature.

Poe2 and even PoE1 would be better without any trading at all, or the bare minimum of short allocated party trading the same way D3 did it.
Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.

I like the current trading, has a bit of drama in it.

In my opinion people who want this instant trading they grew up with a ipads in their hands, and instant feedback and rewards. Might be a mindset clash between generations.

Not everything has to be instant. Even in the current trading you have to fight to get what you want. And its fine.

I honestly doubt people will even notice the "more" in terms of market manipulation and bots. Given how bad the current state is it feels like it's going to be a rain drop in the ocean.

Agree on the "better without trade" part though. Trade ruins the game on so many levels even aside from the horrible way it's implemented.

Oh people will for sure notice a huge sudden increase of prices on certain items anytime someone feels like taking advantage of the instant trade system and flip the prices up to their favor, or just buy out a entire stock of something to prevent others to craft similar/better gear.

just hope ssf doesn't suffer from it. what if instant trade becomes the norm?

what impact does instant trading have on SSF?
The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.
