How to fix melee builds

- strike skills get +2 strike nearby enemies by default from the gem
- totem buffs only apply to other totems in return all melee gems get attack speed and damage effectivity adjustments upwards
- all melee skills with an attack speed penalty get penalty removed.
- another way to increase attack time with melee support next to multi strike

I think those few and simple fixes would already go a long way to fix melee.

And again with the "give more powah" ehh. Melee doesnt need more, it needs access to things it has. Rebalancing uniques and crafts would help melee a lot more. Power creep is not an answer.

Give melee reliable way to upgrade weapons. Hezmana's Bloodlust for example is perfect for early maps. Make it common drop from act10 bosses and done. Make such adjustments to all weapon types. Make more weapons like edge of madness that level with player. Introduce more ways to get 500 > 600 > 700 dps weapons farmable in specific maps. You would 100% know what to do in order to get upgrade. This are the things melee needs.

+ fortify 20% dmg reduction

+ more attack speed support - 34% more attack speed lvl 20
Im thinking when i want to make lightning strike to work nowadays its like

OK i need at least +2 strikes from rare gloves or the damage penalty ancestral support gem. Then i need pierce at least 2 enemies. Then i want extra projectiles. After i need to look how i get more attack speed after Multistrike support so my character does not feel clunky. Afterwards i want some projectile speed for quality of life clear improvements. Then how do i scale damage without totems because totems make melee inherently clunky.

Its way too much. All those penalties come with damage losses or forced item choices in some form.

I might add some melee gems that would not benefit from additional strikes could get more AoE instead.

lol even ranged is screwed if it has to stand still for more then half a second :D so gl with melee in this game xD

LA is clearing skill. It will be more than fine for maps w/o insane gear. However if you want to use this skill for bosses (or to kill some tanky shit on the map) well, good luck.

I think you misread im talking about Lightning Strike not LA and no its not just a clearing skill.

Yes, I meant LS. It is clearing skill. It was always shit for single target except times when it was broken af (and meta).

The appealing aspect about LS has always been how it felt mechanically, because it is a strike skill that has good clear.

This season I have seen some good takes on the skill including a poison variant with all damage can poison tincture, good old jugg strength stacking as well as armour stacking champion.

From that list, I'd say poison raider is probably most viable for budget. Tinctures are a dime a dozen and poison gear for LS is pretty affordable too.
