PoE 2 is forced Ruthless mode, GGG not coming right out from the beginning saying so is, um yeah...
So, Grinding Gear Games wants a version of PoE that is forced Ruthless mode, and so they hired designers to create PoE 2.
I'm pretty po'd that the money I spent on, yes a free-to-play game, went towards designing a game mode that was DoA back when it came out as voluntary "parched mode" for World of Warcraft. Games have to have, and I'm being serious here, a logical, step-by-step progression system. Otherwise, it's a chore, boring, and insipid. [Removed by Support] Again, this doesn't feel right. It's a lot of thoughts I could type out here, but in the end, it feels as if tho every decision GGG makes is anti-consumer, anti-fun. I can't imagine that the market indicators for ARPGs includes "I want a forced-Ruthless mode". Last edited by Jenn_GGG on Nov 29, 2023, 10:36:41 PM Last bumped on Jan 1, 2024, 3:30:49 AM

1. PoE2 is copletely different game, with different combat flow, builds, campaign etc
2. Ruthless was internal game mode for their fun, players asked for it and ggg gave what they wanted. 3. You got what you payed for. It doesnt give you any right to dictate companies direction. | |
" + also: If you feel the game is not fun anymore you´re more than free to step away, take a break, touch grass... Like, I think the game is in the best state it has ever been and saying they actually TRY to make it anti-fun is such a ridiculous statement that I will not further engage on that. Amazing people know what a game will be before it is even remotely close to being out. It is a different game, no one is forcing you to even try it. However, whining about it 8 months before even potential start of beta is a bit crazy.
A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

Ruthless Mode was made as a side project by 2 people. Definitely a majority of the entire GGG Team right?

Well, other than forum moderators. My heart goes out to those poor souls... On topic, as others noted, you don't know anything about PoE2, its systems and if it's 'Ruthless' or not. Also could the forum please decide what "Manditory Ruthless" means as a phrase? Is it a lack of loot? Is it slow game play? Is it low mob count? Is it "fully reliant on RNG"? Like what's the actual boogie man you're running from in these sort of posts? Like I get not liking Ruthless, no one's forcing anyone to play it (though I'm over joyed it got released for like the five of us who think its cool), just like no one is forcing you to play PoE2 (when you know, it actually comes out). But every post like this makes me hope GGG does just shutter PoE1 after its release and make it manditory. The wailing will be so pure then, a hungring tide that would fill even the Eater of Worlds. " I agree with you completely, also have to say that there are games you can tell exactly what they will be years before they are released :p I've had OP's discussion with people on here already though and they simply haven't shown anything so far that indicates it plays like ruthless |
