I know of at least one person playing on Standard, so that statement is factually incorrect.

He's the last of his kind. Precious is his memory.

We have one guy in the guild. He was bragging with standard league crafts in the guild chat last league start and everbody was like: "Cmon dude, shut up already, nobody cares." ;P

Joking aside, I know a few standard players and it's either super casual "weekend gamer" type of people or sweaty tryhards who use legacy gear on level 100 characters, with no in between. :D

And that may ultimately be the answer to the thread.. just play standard?

Not sure why you use lower-case a in ARPG. Too little action for you?
Not sure what reason you can give for why PoE should be considered an MMO instead of an ARPG other than "it's online" or "you can trade"
Not sure how you think "grindy" is a gotcha when the company making the game is literally called Grinding Gear Games (lol)
And yeah, games are designed to be fun. Path of Exile is a forever game as described by Chris Wilson himself..

1. Nitpicking me writing aRPG with lower case - lol
2. Whole game revolves around playing online, because it's balanced around trade economy. Playing it solo/SSF is terrible, because game wasn't made with it in mind (beyond few token changes for vendor recipes). Every league is balanced around players finding sub-promile rare league items (Mirror tile, sentinels with "sentinel reward" mod, +1 projectile tattoo/hinekora Locks). Like 90% of players never get those throughout their whole league.
3. Ah the (in)famous fan...(cannot finish that word, cause forum modders) argument "it's GRINDING gear games HURRR". Imagine using that argument for other games such as Riot Games making actual riots "because it's in the name HURRR".
4. As much as I enjoy PoE I wouldn't call it fun, as it's nothing more, or less than casino. Almost everything you do in here bases itself on very rare highs and very common lows. You either have to work in this game, or gamble and both don't exactly sound like fun experience to me. Yes, it does work here. Not denying that.... Just as Las Vegas works, even though everyone can tell you gambling is bad.
5. Also Chris made Ruthless because game wasn't punishing enough for his tastes. He made this pearl of a game, but now it feels like we are chained by his casino vision.

Your entire post can be summarized with a "so what" and a "skill issue" statement. The addition of SSF and Ruthless to the roster of game modes are just that.. an addition. You can choose to make the game as hard for yourself as you want to or just play SC Trade like the majority of the player base. Get over it lmao.

You come to the official forums for the game and get surprised by meeting a fan of the game? Mind blown.

I think it's a shame that standard is dead. It was also very strange for me that the same player had been buying my mats for weeks.

And these artificial resets every few months leave a bitter aftertaste on my tongue. I only know that from lousy projects where half-sober devs don't want to produce ANYTHING. and sell nostalgia.
but apparently there are some patches here. although they hardly make me hot. Maybe new content was only good at release and then it was made unattractive.
