Define "later on". Once again, for the most part you would never double slam into scour, this is literally what looking for perfect item is. You could argue one slam into aisling, which is FAR more likely to give you the results you want and all you will ever need. So its kinda sad that I have to repeat myself here, but this is NOT the crafting you would typically do in any circumstance unless you want a mirror worthy item.

And you aim for mirror tier items or close to mirror tier if you want to min max the last bit out of your character. And even close to mirror tier items are pure gamble of ex slamming until you settle it with a decent result.

Crafting bare minimum items up to mid tier items are easy to achieve but the results are far away from being great or useable for some builds. Sure it's somewhat reliable in some points but overall still pure luck.

In most cases you still have to heavily rely on luck to get certain crafts done as the odds are pretty low even on entry level.
You're also not able to manipulate some crafts like double influenced items since the outcome is just random. So it's just a "repeat and go all over again" till you get a useable base to work with.

Sure you can slap a essence or a certain fossil combo onto a fractured item, but the outcome is still heavily luck dependent and you can't really rely fully on it.

In the end crafting is just pure luck in every stage, it just gets more expensive the more rolls you want to have. You're fine with two perfect stats, sure fracture and essence will do. Want a bit more? Sure Aisling got your back but even the unveil isn't 100% a success most of the time. And not every player or build is fine with just 2 or 3 good rolls on gear and the rest being garbage.

I think you're looking at the expression like a mathematician in a lab when you should realize that the phrase exists for people in the real world. The mathematician says that both sides of the leger aren't exactly equal so the proof is wrong. But the self employed, the small business owners, the hustlers, the nine-to-fivers, the double shifters, and the CEOs know damn well that time is money.
