How does one player accumulate 226 mirros in one season?

I'm watching JamesBelton on twitch right now and it seems like he has spent over 200 mirrors worth of currency into crafting this one bow. How does a single player accumulate that amount of wealth in a single season? Don't feel like it should be possible even while playing the game full time.

I guess its more like a crowdfunding thing - he gets x amounts of divine orbs and people who participate in this crowdfunding can mirror this bow for free

(he spent divine orbs worth the 220 mirros)

i asked the same question myself, the moment i've heard about it
Didn't Cocodog claim that he/she had more than 5000 mir in Standard.

He/she still has to show them ingame.

Yes.

He regularly posts youtube videos that give an idea how he generates his personal currency. None of it is farming/grinding. He just does a lot of large scale crafting like generating alt. quality gems for example.

This will eventually net a few mirrors, maybe even 20+ if you do nothing else but I'm pretty sure the bow is mostly crowdfunded as MegaHungry mentioned.

Yes and Jenebu's lieutenants will come in accuse him of RMT.

First of all, lets adress the "how". Whatever farming strategy you follow, yoz will eventually cap out at around 15-20 Divines per hour. The real money in PoE lies within two things which he both does: One is Crafting for profit, and the other is playing the market.

With those tools you can just snowball your currency until the point where you craft the first mirror worthy item and then profit from the service to fund the next crafting and on and on it goes. It is a very specific way of playing the game though I find it debateable if this is still considered "playing". But once you have enough experience it isnt even that complicated. This league I also played the market a bit to offset my early league time constraints and was able to get Mageblood in Week 2 without even finishing my atlas, so it really is just knowledge, experience and basic maths.

Then onto the second part: He didnt farm those 220 mirrors on his own, at this point quite a substantial amount comes from donations and/or people invested into the item that get their share off of the mirror fees afterwards. Secondly, why "shouldnt it be possible" to get that currency as you put it? PoE is by large a free trade market and I see nothing wrong with that
can we at least talk about how gamblecrafting 200 mirrors isn't a fun thing in the game?

Like FFS GGG give people some degree of determinism. (maybe not for mirror tier items I guess)

the game feels fundamentally flawed with rubbing orbs and beasts together until you get a favorable result.
