The copium is stronk (<=say that in a deep Russian accent) when it comes to defending pay-to-win. But, allow me to clarify.

If you can pay real money to take a shortcut in the grind in any way, such as instant gratification for crafting if you pay real money, or instant or quicker level ups, or loot boxes, that's pay to win. Winning is git bild and destroy the game's content with OP meta shit, and be on the top of the server, which is what whales do when they pump these pay to win games.

Now, imagine if you could pay GGG $ to instantly 6L + perfect color any armor you want, at the start of a new league, and pay for exp boosters, and to boost max level gems, then splurge on loot boxes for T1 uniques. Oh, yeah, they're just paying to take a shortcut, lmao, totally not pay to win.... (insert laughing pepe face here w/copium).

The worst thing GGG and PoE are guilty of is stash tabs. But let's not go down the "pay for convenience" rabbit hole, and just call it what it is, - P2W. However, it's considerably less egregious than what these Korean MMORPGs do. Being a whale doesn't mean you got a top spot on the ladder in PoE.
