- 2x Decent sceptres
- Decent ring with conductivity on hit
- Decent gloves with socketed gems are supported by faster casting
- Essence worm
- Stygian Vise
- Move speed boots with lots of mana and life
- 20/20 gems
- Jewel with corrupted blood immunity

You're unlikely to spend 40ex on that list, so you can start to break into the high end gear as much as you wish to spend - thread of hope, cluster jewel setup, etc.

The issue I am having is finding decent sceptres for the builds. I am still working on other gear though. I got most of the build pretty much done with my gear. Besides getting gear with max rolls which are hard to find and cost a lot, I am hitting a wall on scaling. Then again, I am only still into yellow maps at the moment as I am making my casual progress through this league. As a league starter though it has been pretty smooth up until now. Even with the gear I got I think I am 1.5mill sirus/shaper dps at the moment with my tabula and lightning pen inserted (with my 5L defiance cloak it is a bit lower at over a million). Which is more than enough to do all the content according to my past experiences. As I slowly get the rest of the build together, I'll be able to get those last remaining damage nodes for a small bump according to the PoB.

For the most part, the build has been pretty cheap with what I have. I've spent 2ex tops right now. Which is about all I've found. To me builds that can hit 1+million boss dps with cheap gear like this are keepers.

I run Replica Mistwall instead of dual sceptres and I haven't died while full-clearing T14-T16 ultimatums yet, had a few close calls on rippy mods (e.g. lesser life recovery, multi-proj) but I can duck out of the ultimatum circle for a few seconds to regen my mana up.

I guess the problem with shield setup is that my boss damage is kind of not good, 5k life/7.7k mana and T16 conqueror kills takes me a few minutes. It's tolerable for now since I am in no real danger of dying in those fights if I watch my mana. Currently in the process of spawning my first Sirus so we'll see how that goes.

Investment wise, I've spent around 6-7ex total on gear. I can swap to dual sceptres for faster boss kills but am reliant on Mistwall to cap resistances - I don't feel like reshuffling resists at the moment as I'm currently saving up for a 6L cloak of defiance. I am also missing mana regen boot enchant which would help heaps but don't want to farm for it until I have an actual decent pair of boots to use it on.

IMO the survivability for this build is incredible on basically poverty gear which I'm willing to put up with mediocre damage for. Really the main con of this build for me is the amount of management in keeping up a 2-button attack combo, multiple buff skills and flasks. Also, not the greatest versatility in map mods as this build doesn't like either reflect (although phys is doable with gem swap), no regen or lesser life recovery (doable but massive hit to survivability).

The testimonials for this build are sounding pretty bad. Has anyone had good experiences with it?

With 6-7 ex I can afk clear ultimatum and conquerors on a necro yet it sounds like this build struggles.

you're doing something wrong then
