Development Manifesto: Harvest Crafting

Just realized I burned out again.
See y'all in a year or so, whenever I feel like it.

Used to play every league, but with Harvest gutted like this, honestly it's better to only touch the game once a year and skip 3-4 leagues at a time.

The time GGG expects people to sink into the atlas is insane. I don't care about all these conquerers, maven and her little hypeman envoy, or the shaper&elder for that matter. I only really care about running a few nice maps, but the lower tier map choice this league sucks, jeez. Just give me some low tier Mesa or Vault and I'm happy. Also a map based on the ledge tileset at daytime would be dope.

I agree with ya man. Why players should want to kill all hi level bosses? For what reason? For what point?
⊳⊳⊳ TOP reasons why players should not to kill hi-lvl bosses:
➥ Bosses gives NO valuable drop most of the time
➥ High chance to die and lose 10% exp. for not superskillfull players
➥ It's not fun to die))

⊳⊳⊳ TOP reasons why players want deterministic craft (3.13 or 3.10 Harvest):
➥ players want to improve thier gear
➥ players want to improve thier gear
➥ players want to improve thier gear
➥ players DON't like when their characters becomes weaker with each new league

Man, I just want to play the game with friends and beat the content. I don't want to go into trading, treat the game like the stock market where I have to do market research, look up guides about guides about crafting, and generally do things that aren't playing the game. But, it feels like GGG's item philosophy isn't about playing the game, playing the game is just a way to get items, and a barely functional one at that purpose. I don't care about the items. I want to play the game without being gated behind all of this non-gameplay trading crap in order to make any meaningful progression. Having good crafting at least lowers the amount of time I need to spend doing non-gameplay things to progress.

Is that so wrong? Just to want to play the game? Am I a player that isn't the target audience?
somewhere, many players have mentioned it, there's a post that GGG does not expect most players to ever make it out of white maps. this, to me, seems absurd as to why a game developer would ever say that about their own product.

but, harvest crafting made it possible for a majority of players to make it way beyond white maps. i made it to red maps with no problem during heist league completely without harvest but reached a point that i could not advance any further without having tons of currency to buy better gear. heist was the last league i played and will ever play as i now only play standard. and yes, standard is way more expensive to buy items compared to league.

then harvest came back in 3.13. it helped immensely for improving my gear but i hardly ever got harvest in my maps no matter what i did so the progress was extremely slow. and during the entire league, i was never able to finish my gear.

a small percentage of players dictate the game economy and harvest in 3.13 was something they did not like as average players were able to get decent/good gear that let them get farther into the endgame with very little currency investment. the price/currency fixers likely complained to GGG about it and they nerfed the crap out of harvest pretty much killing it and making it all but useless for getting good crafts for gear.

the sheer amount of posts in this thread from players showing their dislike for it did absolutely nothing. also there is VERY little communication from GGG about anything at all in this game other than to puke out MTX announcements all the time or statements saying they will look into it. "it" being game issues that should never happen with a game this old in the first place.

during ritual league(i still played standard), the game was busy with lots of players. now, it's almost like going into a desert. i'm in a decent size guild and there's only 5-10 players at any given time playing. most are in league. but, in 3.13, there was almost never less than 30 online at all times.

with the recent fails at game coding from GGG during this league, i honestly see this game heading to the graveyard if they don't start actually fixing things.

oh, almost forgot to mention the fact that their forum software(probably coded by GGG) has some serious issues. when i click the quote icon in a post, the text area is always blank with nothing quoted and i have to hit the back button and click quote again. and also, every time i go to submit a post, i get "Security token has expired. Please submit the form again."
poe is going down fast. Diablo 4 and Baldur's Gate 3 have no performance issues. play them instead
I recently came back to the game without knowing anything about the harvest changes -it just seemed so unrewarding. After reading the patch notes I realized what had been done and promptly uninstalled. I have no desired to play this game for hundreds/thousands of hours on the slim chance I might see some improvement in gear.

We all love GGG but even the best companies need a kick in the pants every once in a while. Player numbers and micros will give them all the motivation they need to clean their act up.

Good luck GGG, I'll check back in another 6 months.
worst change ever
You seem to be fixated on created content for streamers and no-lifers. Deterministic crafting in harvest allowed us normal folk access to some of the items that the, I play 16 hours day, group got. Now they still have their super items, but we can't access them, again. POE has become more and more elite.
The only way to get good items now is to have hundreds of exalts, and that's for the 16 hours a day crew.

But you know what annoys me more, that harvest is still in the dame at all. You dumbed it down to the point where spamming essences is a better option. Harvest is next to useless, with every streamer I know unallocated all the harvest atlas passives.

That change made their streamers loose their viewership on Twitch! The streamers who did not post on Youtube in months, now pumping out almost everyday a video. This kind of behavior is typical (according to Davin Nash) to draw more attention to your Twitch-Stream. And get this, "ghudda" now making Crypto content. Which tells a LOT about the state of the game in terms of profitability to stream with it.

That overall unpopular decision to nerf Harvest, made unprofitable to stream PoE fulltime for most Streamers in US and Europe. Which results in overall decline of the game popularity. And it did so in troubling times where Twitch-Viewers don't spent as much money as they used to. Due to Covid and insane Hardware prices. I suggest make Harvest great again, so that your beloved streamers get some food on the table.

On top of that, GGG decided to sponsor non-PoE streamers for the 3.14 start because the PoE streamers will advertise the game for free.

Tencent executives may be fooled by artificially boosting player numbers with the communities of big Twitch streamers, but that won't work on the loyal playerbase.

considering that the Asian market is about 10x bigger than both the US and EU market put together I don't think GGG will lose a lot of sleep over this.
