The second of your quides I am following. Thanks!
I am still not able to use righteous fire.
level 91, tree followed with the exception of Elemental Equilibrium (will use EQ once RF is working). I have Survival instincts in the gem slot instead.
Fire resistance is 77 (96).
Purity of fire is level 18 (20Q).
life regen is 784 (life is 5290)

Would the suffix (0.5/0.6) life regen make a difference?

Maybe you can add one resistance to the stygian vise? There should be an open suffix slot. The abyss jewel is amazing!

If you use Shield Charge, one of your rings causes problems with your EE, since it adds fire damage to attacks... but I don't know how often you use it. Maybe it's not too important.

Vaal Righteous Fire gems with 20 % quality can be found (however, they are quite rare). There is also a divination card for a random vaal gem with 20 % quality: Volatile Power. There is another divination card for a corrupted level 21 spell gem: The Cataclysm.

The only way to obtain a level 21 quality 23 Vaal Righteous Fire is by double-corrupting a level 20 quality 20 non-vaal Righteous Fire gem in Alva's temple.

I think all the support gems for Righteous Fire are worth being sold at level 20 for 20 % quality. Inspiration the least, in my opinion. You can use the second wepaon slot to level a second set of gems. This way you won't have to play with level 1 gems for a while, once they are sold to vendors.

Unfortunately, I can't have a look at your character since it is set to private. If you wish to, you can change that to public in your account settings.

Do you already have a Stone Golem? Do you already have the Ascendancy points?

Righteous Fire should be working fine at level 91 and with the fire resistances you have.

I'm glad you're having such a great time!

I'll take another look at the Dream Mods section. I only wanted to include crafts that were either unlocked via the campaign or through easy Jun or Niko quests. But the lists are so extensive it's likely I missed some. I appreciate you pointing it out. I'll take another look.

I think you're right, this may be some specific league item. I'm a very casual player, the last time I played was like a year ago (your slow-mo zombie build btw ;)), so I don't know too much about leagues. The belt I got glows like it's burning on in-game character inventory screen

I think I'll try to go with veiled (5–8)% increased maximum Life once/if I unlock it. I'm hoping to actually get 1% extra because of "Life modifiers have 8% increased effect" implicit on this


I actually did some small reshuffling and optimizations so I have a free socket. What would you recommend? I already have Fortify

and Summon Holy Relic. Would Ice Golem cooperate with Ball Lightning and increase critical chance so the Elemental Overload would be almost always on when needed? Or maybe it's not needed so is there anything better defensively/offensively than Ice Golem?

I didn't do any deep analysis, but it looks like Efficacy Support would be a very good candidate for 20% quality. And Elemental Focus Support and maybe Immortal Call too.

Good morning and thank you very much for making your character public.

I had a look at your Switheroo and noticed some things that might be responsible for not being able to use Righteous Fire:

1. You have no "Vitality". Vitality and its life regeneration are crucial for this build to survive.

2. You have linked "Purity of fire" to "Generosity". Therefore Purity of Fire isn't applied to you. You don't profit at all from its effects. If you remove the Generosity you will gain + 3 % to maximum fire resistance. This will make a huge difference. Increased maximum resistance means that you will take much less damage from that element.

3. "Wave of Conviction" and "Purifying Flame" don't have a Cast When Damage Taken gem attached. If you don't cast them manually, they don't do anything at all. Purifying Flame would create Hollowed Ground from time to time. On Hollowed ground your witch receives additional life regeneration.

Do you know that you can change the colours of the sockets? You can do it either by applying chromatic orbs or by using the crafting-bench in your hideout.

4. The golems aren't linked with a Cast When Damage Taken gem. Do you cast them manually whenever they die? The Cast When Damage Taken is very reliable. I use it and I'm rarely ever without my golems.
You can simply remove the Leap Attack since you already have a Leap Attack socketed in your boots.

5. You don't have "Enduring Cry". Enduring Cry gives you a big boost to life regeneration and thus will help you to sustain Righteous Fire.
You can bin Enduring Cry to the key that you use for moving. Then your witch will cast it whenever there is no cooldown.

You also need an "Inspiration" linked to Enduring Cry. If you don't have that, the Inspiration linked to your Righteous Fire is completely useless. Right now, you don't make any use of the 5th link of your body armour.

6. You have no "Cast When Damage Taken" + "Immortal Call". It really helps with the survivability of the witch.

Some more details:

- the additional fire damage to attacks that you crafted onto your ring doesn't do anything, since Righteous Fire is a spell, not an attack.

- your sceptre doesn't have any mod that it useful for Righteous Fire, apart from the implicit mod "26 % increased elemental damage". "Adds xxx fire damage" doesn't work for Righteous Fire.

Wrecker_of_Days has provided in his guide a list of things that help to increase the damage Righteous deals:

RF benefits from:
**Damage Over Time Multiplier (the most powerful mod for DOTs. Don't be without it!)**
- Increased Elemental Damage
- Increased Fire Damage
- Increases to Damage
- Increases to Area Damage
- Burning Damage
- Damage Over Time
- "More" of any of the above. In PoE, the term "More" is much stronger than "Increased". So choose "More" over "Increased" when you can.

RF does NOT benefit from:
- Increased Spell Damage (this does improve your other spells though)
- Adding Fire Damage to Spells (only applies to spells that Hit)
- Fire (or Elemental) Penetration (only applies to Hits)
**A mod that "Adds Fire Damage" without specifying Spells only applies to Attacks.


That's a lot of information. I hope it helps you. Your witch is defeinitely able to use Righteous Fire as soon as you give her the correct gems and gem-links. Have fun!

I'll be honest... i was really surprised of this guide, and thought witch can not do RF :D
Did chieftan RF first, but that was just not as good this league than earlyer league, so decided to try this.
I'm now 69 and must say that this must be some of the most fun i had this league :)

Using the gear from my chieftan so have decent gear already, but not the gems yet as they require level 72+.

Using you guide as my template and changing things to suit my playstyle is always fun with your guides as they always have that opening. No strict routes or strict gem settup.

Will post an POB for my version later on as i progress and able to test different things. The damage is already higher than my chieftan so im positively surprised :D
HI, its very nice to following your build so far, but i had a few problem and i dont know if its the way i play or something wrong with my build (since im not following your build 100% like you said).

So the first one is i got insta kill many times, mostly from bosses and rare monsters

and the second one is i kinda lacking damage to kill bosses especially the one with elemental resist and hexproff, it may takes like 2-3min i think to kill the boss alone. is there a better way to this or i just dodge this mod too? So far i just dodge hp/mana regen reduction like you said.
