I got help on this question when we first started looking into SAP.

For a single target only, the 20% cap is functionally the same as the 20% on Fortify.

The main differences are as follows.

* When you have Fortify, all monsters are effected, but SAP has to be applied on a monster by monster basis

* Fortify can be scaled beyond 20% but SAP can not (GGG has no mechanisms yet to scale the alt ailments)

* SAP protects against DOT and damaging ailments, Fortify does not. This protection from SAP remains even after monster dies.

* SAP applies to the enemy's damage before your mitigation, which means your Armour has to tank a smaller hit, which it's better at. Fortify does not work this way.

I just respecced my lvl96 templar to this build, so I will soon have a poverty spec setup to share, lol. I'm using Viridi's Veil for hexproof as I already had one from my last build. Viridi's gives +2 to level of socketed gems, so my lvl3 enlighten is working like a lvl5.

Good luck! When respeccing make sure you have all points that grant intel or strength allocated before you buy any gear to make them match.

Viridi's Veil is a great defensive choice, it's what I'm using currently on a Guardian version. I would not recommend it though unless you have the +2 incinerate enchant. The defense benefits aren't worth the dps loss without the enchant IMO.

I see. I'm in standard so buying the right enchant is hard. I do have a Crown with a good (+19%) roll, but it was easier to keep my old coward's legacy setup with Viridi's.

I actually rolled a small jewel with +8 strength on the small node and Uncompromising, so I balanced my stats without any strength on gloves at this time.

I was thinking of respeccing the baseline POB to include this helmet as it seems like a cool addition/change but I just did a search of the 10,000 Veil helmets in scourge, I did not see even a single one with the enchant....That does not seem possible.

I feel like I must be doing the search wrong but I have done this search a million times before....

You're doing it right, they are just hard to come by. I had a live search running every time I played for a couple weeks before I found one. I think the issue is that incinerate isn't that popular of a skill. If you check poe.ninja it literally says "0.0%". LOL. there's only 7 characters total on the leaderboard that use it. Also, 65% of the builds that use Viridi's are Toxic Rain builds so I'm guessing most of the lab runners are probably putting TR enchants on Viridi's.

You can use this search that checks all possible Incinerate enchants:

My guardian version gets 6mil dps with an unenchanted Viridi's.
+2 Incinerate stages = +1mil dps
40% increased damage = +310k dps
10% increased per stage = +600K dps




So this doesn't currently apply to me, but I wonder what the mana reservation looks like for those of you with level 5 enlightens and Viridi's? It would take us to a level 7 enlighten which is a 76% multiplier instead of 84%.

EDIT: it's a max level 4 enlighten which would be a level 6 with 80% multiplier. Derp

how do you get a level 5 Enlighten gem? I thought level 3 was top, then corrupt to level 4.

Virdis's would make it a level 6 I think.
