"Hey ardye! Sweet! I hope it goes well for you! Ya, EH is really weak at the beginning. Good levelling advice! "Hey Aeris85! If you don't need Clarity I'd personally add Arctic Armour. Any defence and chill help! I find it a perfect fit for the lazy sessions when I'm fine standing around my totems. https://www.ForeverExiled.com/: Forever Exiled, A Path of Exile Podcast

"Hello again limoj! I'm glad you liked Zombies! It's a lot of fun for sure. Thanks! It's very different from this build, but both are fun (to me). Your best bow and quiver this league will be crafted Rares. You want Crit chance, crit damage, attack speed, and elemental damage for sure. I don't pay attention to uniques at all so I'm not sure what's out there, but I am familiar with your two uniques. They've been around a while. Your bow is just for levelling really. It has one mod that helps our build, Attack Speed. Your quiver only has one important stat too, the +1 to totems. But that being said, having +1 to totems is really big for this build (if you have the mana regen). You can get really strong offensive or defensive quivers with lots of health, resists, or offensive mods too. So don't get rid of that quiver. Swap it in and out as you find great rare quivers and see which you prefer over time. I hope that helps! https://www.ForeverExiled.com/: Forever Exiled, A Path of Exile Podcast

"Hey Nordsta! Thanks! You're very kind. That's a nice compliment :). Heralds work with totems, but not completely. Some of each herald will only impact US, while others will only impact the totems. They aren't perfect for the build but you can easily replace my auras for those and see how it goes! Try levelling them in the background and switch them out later on to see how it goes. They aren't perfect, but if they're more fun, it's worth it ;). https://www.ForeverExiled.com/: Forever Exiled, A Path of Exile Podcast

" Hmm, but even so, my bow has higher attack speed and crit chance? And the lightning damage max is just 15points lower. Is the ingame DPS info that reliable though? I already read quite often that the ingame stat doesn't take aaaaall effects into account, and can thus skew the result.
"That's a nice bow. It should carry you for a while until you find one with higher rolls on Attack Speed and Crit chance/damage. The implicit is nice too. Yup. I like it. https://www.ForeverExiled.com/: Forever Exiled, A Path of Exile Podcast

" I honestly don't know. It might be worth trying a bit with each weapon and seeing which feels better. If you're right and the stats don't count some things, I could be going about my own setup entirely wrong, so it's food for thought for me as well. I've got a couple "crafting starter" bows in my stash but nothing with really great rolls yet. Next time I find a good one I'll swap it and see how it compares. In low tier Maps at least, my current bow still shreds trash packs easily. My hangup is bosses with their large HP buffs - they take forever and a day to go down, even with having a boatload of attack speed on my Ballistas.
@Katalaeia: Kk, I see.
It's great to think out loud with you guys! @all: Besides the Elemental Hit that is linked to Ballista Support, I also have a standalone Elemental Hit that I fire myself, and is JUST linked to Faster Attacks Support. Should it actually worry me that my own EH is sometimes as strong as the 4x Ballista version? Every now and then, when there is just a pack of 4-5-6 enemies, I shoot with the EH on my own, and I insta kill all of them with 1 shot. Shouldn't this be much weaker than the Ballista version that is buffed by EDWAS + Crit Chance + Crit Damage?? EDIT: 2 hours later: Forget what I said. It is true for said 4-5-6 enemies, but just normal ones. As soon as they are bosses or champions, my own EH doesn't get me anywhere, and only the Ballistas can take them down. I just did my own testing because I had this laying around in my stash. No bow levels, but my EH is in my chest armor currently anyway because it's the first 5L I was able to get my hands on.
I ran two T1 Pier maps and was able to fully upgrade the Metamorph in each one. The mods varied slightly but I wanted to keep as much the same as I could. I could notice the difference in rate of fire of my Ballistas when I swapped to the above bow, but they do seem to hit harder. The boss and Metamorph died noticeably faster. The conclusion I'm drawing from this is that you want a combination of hard-hitting elemental damage with some attack speed, and that the previous comment about tooltip DPS not painting the entire picture is correct. This is only after running two maps so it's obviously a tiny sample size, but I'm going to stick with this bow for a few more maps and see how it does. The new bow only has 1.2 attacks per second so I'm not sure if a crit-based implicit is better than something like an Imperial Bow with an implicit bonus to elemental damage and 1.45 attacks per second. As mentioned in a previous comment getting the cruel lab is a huge boost to the build as you level. I ended up with a lot of damage nodes over defense which also helped but left me pretty squishy. With the addition of deadeye I feel I can start filling in more health and evasion.
Regarding the bow, I'm using a Quill Rain and I haven't found anything yet that beats it, based on the tool tip. So, how reliable is the tool tip? Thanks for the build. |
