Development Manifesto: Balance in Path of Exile: Conquerors of the Atlas

Already reads like the usual balance clusterfuck.
The whole armour thing is too binary and needs a rework. Either you need those nodes, or don't, especially if there won't be any item modifiers. There is no choice even before min maxing. Just another dump stat.
And how come after all these years you still don't get that Point Blank doesn't provide a too great close range bonus (relatively speaking), but that the drop-off is so insignificant regarding 99% of the game that there is usually no point in not taking it.
Just to give you an idea how moronic these changes are: You increased the the max distance damage by 40%. From 0.5 to 0.7. That was the whole drawback. There is basically no point in not taking it (with the exception of having Farshot), especially with those semi-shit-but-kinda-needed mechanics that force ranged players into (almost) melee range. You are in dire need of a new concept. e.g. you could give projectile attacks a damage drop-off baseline and make proj speed reduce that drop-off with Point Blank calculating it's damage from the excess proj speed.
man, I really wish this game would get controller support because seeing the videos on the new updates makes me sad because I got nerve pain in my fingers so can only wait another freaking week to play on Xbox :(

I'm really struggling to understand these changes. Especially with no signs or mention of boss loot ever becoming worthwhile again.

Coming off multiple leagues of player numbers declining substantially and a league just finished that had the lowest player numbers since almost back into the days of 2016, we get a sweeping raft of changes that do nothing but make the game harder for new players coming in and all casual players tossing up if they should return or not. We already have hardcore mode for players who want to play on a knife edge, but there's only like 100 of them in that mode for a good reason - because the mode isn't fun. GGG need to stop trying to turn the game into us needing to build characters like it's hardcore mode.

What are GGG thinking, do they not want players or profitability for the game any more. Is running players off in droves, leaving us with a dead and empty trade economy what they want?

Right now the only net benefit I can see these changes being too, is trade bots.

Don't see what you're talking about dead and empty economy when you can still make a mirror every few days if you know what you're doing, you could still buy anything from rare crafted items to bulk items even 2 weeks ago...

and people thought it's gonna be "bow league"

I mean if 'bow league' was gonna be as lopsided as 'minion league' last patch, then I for one don't want it to be bow league. I liked Blight as a league, but the minion balance that patch was atrocious. I certainly don't want bows to be that popular, and I'm saying this as a mostly ranged player.

it become trend now at ggg hq? nerf and buff and you call it "balance" ?

Nerfing and buffing are exactly tools of balancing. On what planet are you living?
retired from forum because of censorship and discrimination
It seems that GGG wants more than anything to affect playstyle in the early game. Nerfing a lot of staples of racers is a great way to do that. Making rewards for HC-SSF is quite devious. Methinks there will be a lot of whining and griping about this once the expansion hits.

Some modifiers no longer appear on Shaper or Elder items, like the "increased Physical Damage and Socketed Gems are Supported By" modifiers on Two Handed Weapons.

oh boy
In order to get rid of clearspeed meta cap global movement speed at 100% but make all skills instant so everything feels great.
I hope GGG understands that slowing down the game by buffing monsters, nerfing fast skills, and buffing slow skills, does not increase how long someone will play the league. Build variety and freedom increase how long I personally play. Not being pigeon-holed into some slow clunky build because that's what GGG has decided for this league.

Most of us aren't streamers who can play the game all day everyday. Many of us have jobs and families. So please stop balancing around the streamers and people who can play 12 hours a day.
