Hey guys, picked up the game this league, this is my 2nd character ever, so i'm still stuck in noobland :-)

That said, i am loving this build, thanks for all the info and continuing support to the community. Currently on T12 maps, build is holding up well so far.

1- Noob question: is there any issue with putting the cyclone/VD in chest rather than staff (obviously I don't have a CwC staff yet)? Doesn't seem to me, but I saw a comment in passing somewhere that made me doubt.

2- When I compare my PoB to others, my calculated damage for VD is completely abysmal (44k vs 760k), but not sure what I'm missing that would explain such a difference...

3- I just sniped a decent Watcher's Eye for relatively cheap, but now I'm kinda stuck on my progression: what next for my gear/setup? I just unlocked the final Lab so I'll be running that asap, but gear-wise, I'd love direction on what to try to go for next... Probably better survivability (chaos resist, life, es), but what do you think would provide the best upgrade?

Edit: linked gear.

Hello, just bringing my question up the queue. Ran the last lab yesterday, looking for guidance on gear direction.
1- What would be the most effective use of a few ex for better survivability?
2- My PoB is showing an abysmally low dmg, is it real? I mean i have most of the main stats, gems and buffs etc, not min/maxed obviously, but I can't see what would explain a 15x difference...

Thanks!
J

No dps modifiers on circle of anguish (at this point it's probably worse than a rare ring), weak (not bad, but could be way better) rings/amulet/belt, can get a bunch of damage or more resists there, no crit / offerings mod on chest, cold snap for some reason I don't understand, no curse/bleed immunity flasks. Also you could upgrade one of your flasks to another unique flask that boosts dps (cheapest option atziri's promise, most expensive bottled faith).

In addition to those, you might just not have ticked the correct settings in your PoB compared to the other builds so it doesn't calculate all your modifiers.

Edit: you also don't have any life on your ring and boots.

Thank you, much appreciated.

Cold snap was for frenzy charges til i get amulet anointed. I'll get onto it though.

The anointment is about 30c.
About the flasks: I can't both replace a magic flask with a dps unique flask, AND add curse/bleed immunity in... I see you went the offensive route, do you address bleeds/curses/poison/freeze elsewhere?

I like to experiment with the minor details of the build, so I went end checked what other people are using on poe.ninja.

The major things are the same as in Gryphenprey's build, but there are some differences, which might make the build a little bit better.

https://poe.ninja/challenge/builds?sort=dps&dps=Volatile-Dead

The most noticeable difference for me is the use of a lvl 7 Desecrate gem; the use of the Inspiration Support and maybe the amount of Curses they are using.

I would recommend checking a couple; you might find something interesting.

My point was that PoB's calculation is probably incorrect. Also, I didnt really understand what you've been trying to say; is Spell Cascade in a 1-to-1 comparison better then CD or Aw. Fire Pen, or not?

Inspiration Support is what I used last league. They nerfed the gem and buffed monster resists making Awakened Fire much more appealing and more damage. Would not use Inspiration anymore.

In a 1-for-1 comparison of between Spell Cascade or Not Spell Cascade, Spell Cascade has a higher DPS ceiling. it will be more damage provided you can produce enough corpses to support it. I don't think giving up a 4L is worth the extra DPS and lag that comes with it. That is, and has always been, my stance on the gem.

Also on a side note, desecrate level 7 is the limit for CWDT level 1. I was literally too lazy to level it past 1. That's the only reason it's level 1. lol

I went with freeze immunity on one of my flasks, because if I'm frozen I can't cyclone and so can't regen or dodge stuff. I have immunity to corrupted blood on my jewel and I just outheal normal bleed. I don't care about poison at all, but if I did, I would probably get that one pantheon choice that gives poison immunity. I decided to just suffer through curses, as they're mostly annoying, not threatening. For flask suffixes, I'd rank freeze > bleed > curse in order of importance probably. For this particular build curses might be more important than bleed though since you can outheal it (except maybe corrupted blood, but again, I'm immune due to a jewel so unsure about that).

Thanks for the detailed answer.
Your dedication to supporting this build is hugely appreciated :)

I never noticed a difference in clear speed and I like having the extra 3-4L setup. These sockets can be used for more utility with things like Culling Strike, PCOC, Curse(s), Golems, etc.

That oppurtunity cost can be debated for normal spell cascade, but i'll be totally impossible to beat awakened one with any utilities you can fit in that slot, at potential max of 15 VD and easily 12+ otherwise.

And it's way better after explosions fix now.

Yeah with all the fixes I could see trying Awakened Spell Cascade.

PC will still it though. :P
