" Doing about 660 dps with Cyclone at level 7, figure it will get up to 1800-2400 by level 20. While this is quite a bit less than my main skill Infernal Blow, it allow my character to move while attacking. So far, it seems to be a safer way of working through a horde to get to the ranged mobs in the back. PoE Origins - Piety's story http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2081910

Tested this a bit yesterday, with increased AoE and 2000 listed DPS I had trouble (lvl 79) killing stuff in docks effectively.
Use the same support gems for my doublestrike (ok, swap increased aoe to dmg) and I have 10k dps and kill everything in docks with one click. It's _ways_ faster to kill stuff(yes, groups, not single monsters) with single target attack than this skill, and so much safer it's even hard to quantify. |

Mark GGG, please tell me: How much people create skills and make game balance in GGG???As I can see it is only one man - you, Don't you think you need more people and more things to do. There are so many issues with dexterity melee passive tree, skills and dexterity itself... I think you need to do great brainstorming push in that direction or you lose some part of your new OB players.

" Agreed My Cleave does 15k damage and 1 shots entire groups. Swapped in Cyclone over cleave and my damage dropped to 2k and it took 4-6 long cyclone attacks to kill equal size group of mobs and i was almost dead at 10% health by the end of it. I think the most important thing to do is to give the player an incentive to use this skill with dualwield. So far there is none.
I would strongly suggest to change the mechanics to work similar to Cleave in that regard. Let it hit with both weapons but reduce the damage effectiveness to compensate. This would create the trade-off of having either more damage (dualwield) or more defense (shield). Right now it is a no brainer to use a shield, since it is basicly free survivability compared to dualwield. | |
I haven't tested the skill yet but I'm wondering..
with 35% damage effectiveness + armor dmg reduction formula (lower dmg does even less dmg) = very bad for physical/DW builds? |

I think cyclone is the one skill that highlights melee survivability issues more than anything else.
It may as well read: Spin into a bunch of mobs and die while doing very little damage. At least with other melee attacks you stand at one end of a group and hit them so only a few at the front can hit you, but cyclone lets every mob have a crack at you as you spin past. First thing I did was rush to lost in love quest to get a cyclone gem and them give it to another character to use. Went into Merc terraces and died on my first spin into a group of zombies. Yes, zombies. Having never died to zombies before I was shocked that the slowest moving and attacking mobs in the game managed to punch me to death. Suckwad. I figured I wasn't doing it right and kept practicing and got a bit better with it, but I even whirling blades does a similar job, but much faster. I'm really underwhelmed with this skill atm. I might try some other combinations, but I don't know if putting yourself inside of a dense group of mobs is the smartest thing for a game that already hates melee. |

"Dont forget that with other attacks you 2-4 hit the zombies so they get stunned/interrupted very often which's not the case with Cyclone. Also zombies sometimes forget what they are doing and stop attacking but with cyclone constantly taunting a whole bunches of them, that's an another story. Please pardon my bad english
