Bestiary as a Core Game Mechanic
" Fair point, but talisman didn't have this level of salt. I mean people complained, but not to this degree and hostility towards a mechanic and content that probably took way more effort than talisman. On this level of disrespect players don't deserve a god damn thing. Hard to say it is a good or bad decision. After playing bestiary i think it was not so bad at all. Most of people cried about beast capturing but imo it added to a little bit of "strategy" to the game experience when you did not wanted to kill monster. Kinda fun playstyle from time to time. However I agree that bestiary content was buggy ah hell and added a lot of bad recipes - epecially the ones when you could duplicate items witch enchants and six links - "dupe problems" - it was a big failure by GGG tbh... Also It was very retarded that there were no stash in the menagerie. I was frustrated every single time when I wanted to pick up some things from stash to do sth with them in blood altar and vice versa, when wanted to put things from blood altar to stash again...
Oh, btw... 3 months of playing bestiary and I still did not completed "complete the bestiary" challenge (capture all beasts). Isn't it weird? Definitelly too many of them. Somehow I feel good that bestiary will not go to the core game. But hope we will be able to see it again soon, with some reasonable revamps! |

My useless $0.02
I would rather play void leagues like flashback and mayhem. The bar was set pretty high with breach and harbinger. Abyss not as much only due to the lack of lich boss fights, but the mechanic and items were great. Bestiary was a miss for me. After leveling four characters to lv 90, I think I only went to two spirit realms. I respect the improvements that were made to the league, they did help tremendously. Compared to some other past mechanics, it was a good fun league. I can only image the challenge of created good mechanics. GGG has done an amazing job and I always look forward to see what will be next. Best Regards |

I liked the league and capture the beast at the beginning. It was like a new way to craft some items and have a new work to do with getting beasts. The higher level i got in the league the red beasts started to be very hard and a snowy tiger in a map cost me lot of exp, sad to tell, he won. The balance about bosses in maps and red even some yellow beasts was not fine for me. when the torment spirits buffed them, it was very hard to capture them while the beast spawned lot of ads.
Bestiary was a good leauge and I have still fun, but it does not has to be part of core game. So it is even more interesting to join the leagues with each time new content, that will end. |

As a fellow game developer I can synpathize with all the work that goes behind it...
A lot of people didn't like it however, I was one of them. The idea of having a bestiary with enemy(all of them) and boss info is nice, but the capture thing is a bit out of place in this game. Just wish GGG could use their time to improve the quality of what we already have(which is a LOT) instead of pushing new stuff... |
