Bestiary as a Core Game Mechanic

Glad the animal torture league will not be in the main game, but it seems petulant if not Orwellian to entirely scrub it from existence.

Either it's a politician covering up a mistake, or a child taking his ball and going home because we didn't like his game.

But I guess I get it. It would be weird and complicated having something like a second hideout only accessible during a Zana mod.

My suggestion is to put a capture element back in but apply it to all monsters and let us have more hideout tools. Player already make elaborate cages and rooms for the forsaken masters, let us do that with monsters!

Let us be mad scientists or dungeon keepers or even redeemers, let us actually interact with this world you made in some substantive way other than killing everything that moves and smashing everything for lewt.

I'm glad I feel better having typed that since I know for a fact no one at GGG will ever read it.
Too much censorship that you never even see. Totally removed posts and silenced accounts across all communities. https://www.youtube.com/@Innomen
GGG, hear me!

YOU NEED AN INTERFACE DESIGNER, UX DESIGNER, GRAPHIC DESIGNERS, DESIGNERS OF ALL SIZES AND SHAPES.

A big part of Bestiary League's problem was the convoluted way that the UI delivered the necessary info about the dynamics, recipes, aiming, and everything else.

I said it once and will say it again:
GGG remind me of Google; a bunch of great ideas delivered by coders with horrible UIs and non existent empathy for the user.

There's a reason Blizzard spends gazillions monies with their (fantastic) interfaces.

i got sin boots from da free box, thanks ggg,Im also glad to hear this MONSTER XXILE POKEBALL traps are not gey league is not making to the main game,my damn my damn thanks
Im so incredible happy you made this brave decision. It would have ruined the game for new players!
What would be okay though is if you brought out a Unique map like the harbinger 1,with just beast bro's to hunt
So that`s why Farrul's Fur is 80 ex now XD
THANK YOU !

I realize you guys have tried something a bit new and it's obvious you put a lot of effort into this system. All the little details on the bestiary, Einhart's character, The Menagerie itself, all the animations such as Adds morphing in on certain beasts... etc.

And I DO appreciate that. It was WORTH A SHOT! And please don't stop trying to do cool, more different(maybe riskier) things in the future.

But Honestly, I fkin Hated almost everything about this league!
I'm now playing Flashback race, and I can say for Sure out of all different League encounters I run across in maps, fighting Beasts is just Irritating!
They either die too fast to an unexpected series of Crits, or I throw the Net and for some reason it feels like I do no dmg, or it simply takes Waaaaaaaaaaaaay too long to kill them and it's pure frustration.

The whole idea of Netting is just awful in my opinion. You constrict more inventory space. These items can literally Do Nothing if they fail.
And instead of Fighting Monsters it feels like ALL I'm doing is myopically managing 1 HP Bar, and completely ruining the Pace of the game.
Not to mention I can't be asked to remember the insanely overly complicated system of which beasts are worth anything(or a lot).

And while some of the crafting stuff is Neat, I'd say it too is far too complicated.
It's a confusing mess that Feels more like doing my Taxes than playing a Video Game.
And I'm someone who LIKES to look at spreadsheets min-maxing my character for Hours! It's part of why I love this game!
But this entire System feels to me like Complexity for the Sake of Complexity, and it doesn't actually add much Value and often ruins the pace and the "feel" of the game.

I didn't think you'd make this decision but I'm happy and rather impressed by the way you've taken the feedback.

P.S.:Some of the Beast Mods are really cool tho!
And the Set Items are neat. Really cool way to implement that.
(I think many people wouldn't mind at all if you reused those 2 things in some way)

Bestiary was the spawn of Kitava. Perhaps now I can forget the horror.
That's a shame.. While it wasn't a fun League, Bestiary as a Mechanic is actually really useful/engaging for SSF players..

A shame that they won't get it. (But if we get Paid Leagues, could always slap it in there. :P)

I really hope the 16 aspect uniques and their crafts will come back in some form. I completely agree about the decision to scrap bestiary but the aspects enabled a ton of interesting builds and will be sorely missed.

Didn't want the league but want the items? Oh the sense of entitlement. I hope they don't bring any of it back so I can keep all my immortalized toys and enjoy GGG's big f-u to the haters who won't get their hands on any of it unless they shell out buckets of exalts.

I am surprised GGG has made this decision. After all, a lot of work was put into it

They recognized that Bestiary was a failure. It has nothing to do with the story of Wraeclast, and the mechanics were barely tolerable at best and absolutely broken at worst. This is without any doubt or argument the most broken league in terms of poor quality-assurance testing and rampant bugs, many of which were fixed late, and some of which persist even today.

As much as some people may like capturing beasts and hate other aspects of the game, Bestiary was still the biggest failure as a league to date.

Except that it had everything to do with the beasts of Wraeclast providing a much richer world experience.

It was also the first true 'optional' league mechanic unlike Lab which they claimed was optional but good luck doing end-game without an ascendancy.
