If AOC wasn't always touted as a leading democratic figure by several left-leaning news outlets I'm pretty sure nobody would care. The only difference now is we can can add corrupt and stupid to the list whenever someone mentions her.

I guess you aren't affected by ACA, otherwise you'd know how retarded it is was for a lot of people.

Yeah, climate change is happening, but how about we get some models that aren't horseshit five years from now, before going to the doom and gloom predictions on the future. Even the Al Gore's stuff is way off the mark if you compare it to estimates today.

You're reaching with this. The point is, there are plenty of other areas around the world where ISIS or the ideology behind ISIS is flourishing. Just because the Caliphate is gone, for now, doesn't mean they've been stopped.

This is garbage. The right has taken exception to the new generation of young female Congressional intakes from the beginning. They even thought an old video of AOC enjoying herself was something demonic.

Fine, get rid of it. Out of interest, what's going to replace it? What are those without healthcare going to do whilst some sort or replacement is found? Remember. the repeal and replace was a complete fiasco when the right held all three branches.

It's not a precise science but there is significant evidence climate change is happening and not for the best. Moreover, continuing to promote fossil fuels and mocking green alternatives it isn't helping.

Sure, they haven't been stopped. But you claimed it meant 'nothing' in the grand scheme of things. It definitely did something. ISIS not having national territory is something.

"

Honestly, I just had a good laugh on it. And I don't think I remember seeing any conservative news articles nor reporters on it being demonic.

From what I remember about the story, it was a single person on twitter who was complaining about it and it gone blown way out of proportion.

"
Fine, get rid of it. Out of interest, what's going to replace it?

Probably, a mixture of what we had before of private and publicly owned health insurance. Pretty, shit to be honest, but that's what you get when you have conflicting interest all over the place in Congress.

"
What are those without healthcare going to do whilst some sort or replacement is found?

They'd get transitioned out. When new laws like this are passed, there is a grace period where you try to move people to the new system, in this case they'd have to pay for their own insurance instead of relying on Obamacare. This was the same when Obamacare came in and it'll be the same after getting rid of it.

"
Remember. the repeal and replace was a complete fiasco when the right held all three branches.

There is a host of reasons why the changes failed, but honestly who the fuck knows, besides the Republicans waiting till now to vote on it.

At this point, the main attempt to get rid of it would be to take it to the Supreme Court, again because Trump removed the individual mandate part of Obamacare as a part of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act in 2017.

For someone, a lot of people thought was a retarded, Trump definitely got rid of the main thing keeping Obamacare constitutional.

So, we'll have to go through the Supreme Court, again and get another decision.

And for people who don't keep up with the news.

Originally, Obamacare was rendered constitutional in 2012 was because of the individual mandate, which according to the courts was treated as a 'tax', and thus fell under Congressional Powers of 'taxation'.

Now, I think that was absolute bullshit because the individual mandate was really a fine you paid when you failed to get insurance, but whatever. According to the Supreme Court it was a fucking tax. And since it was a tax, Congress could pass Obamacare.

Whether or not Obamacare survives the Supreme Court now, is debatable, but with no punishment. It's already pretty much been dead since 2017. People have to still pay fines if they don't have insurance till 2019 as a part of the provision, but after that everyone can pretty much ignore Obamacare and do whatever they want.

It's stupid to argue about it. It's why getting it replaced should have been done earlier, it's just bouncing the problem to a later administration.

"

Mocking climate change definitely isn't helping, but people should still have a healthy amount of skepticism to the projections when they are wildly inaccurate.

The solutions aren't as clear cut as cutting all fossil fuels and hoping for the best. I mean was I the only one who thought it was ironic that China out of all countries signed the Paris Agreement, despite continuing to fail to meet their own standards of air quality.

It's almost like all agreements and treaties they signed didn't mean shit.

There wouldn't be a replacement healthcare. Trump doesn't care about people's healthcare. He just wants to lower taxes more for the top 1%. He will just blame congress for not passing a replacement and just ignore the fact that a big piece of law like that is typically first drafted in the White House. He doesn't care about saying good bye to protecting people with preexisting conditions, kids being on parents healthcare until age 26, being a women is not a preexisting condition, and 21 million people losing their healthcare. He also doesn't care that it will likely cause Republicans problems at the polls in 2020. The important advantages of getting rid of the ACA is that it is another big tax break for him and he can destroy the first black President's main legacy.

You are right, Shanahan has basically ignored congress to build some fence, put up lights and fix some roads. I doubt Congress will look very favourably upon this when considering the budget for 2020.

In reality, all that's been removed is the land they held. Those who still follow the ideology have already changed their tactics and they're still in Syria. It's certainly a good victory but much much more needs to be done.

Republicans couldn't agree on a replacement when they had full control and most of them are shitting themselves about this because all they see their seats going by by in 2020.

Of the many Millions covered under ACA there are a huge number with pre-existing conditions and remember, Trump promised he would protect those with pre-existing conditions. Not much of a promise was it. Fake news really.

Nobody took offense to the gender or age of the new congresspeople, only their dumb ideas. And really nobody gave a shit about some old video; that was 100% manufactured grade A fake news.

The funny parts about Avenatti's arrest and AOC's troubles is because they both were given so much free media to blather about "justice" and "taxes" respectively, and they're both being hoisted on their own petards.

... And then Omar is just an outright antisemite, and there is no defense for it.

Healthcare isn't a right, and forcing people by law to purchase a privatized good, fining them when they don't, is absurdly unconstitutional.

I would love to hear your suggestions on what kinds of things could be done.

Trump's ISIS/Syria policy has been to quickly regain control of ISIS-owned territory, release it back to Syria, and then gtfo. The only part that hasn't gone according to plan is when the democrats and republican warhawks forced him to stay in Syria.

In what way would your suggested Syria/ISIS policy differ, if any?

From a casual google search: "In the fourth quarter of 2017, 9.8 million people, or 3.6 percent, under 65 were enrolled in exchange plans."

Where in the world are you seeing 52 million? That's off by a factor of 5.

Got it. You don't care if Americans suffer or die.

You people seem to have a weird attitude about this. You're out there dancing in the streets because some land has been reclaimed and a battle won. No one said it wasn't a good victory but it has in no way defeated the ideology or ISIS. As far as policy, I have no idea but I do know that the fight has to continue wherever it must.

It depends on which numbers you look at. According to familiesusa

Repeal of the ACA threatens against the 133 million people with pre-existing conditions.

Repeal of the ACA threatens the access to preventive care of nearly 138 million people with private health coverage (including nearly 29 million children) and 55 million seniors on Medicare.

A lot of the numbers are just for enrolment for a particular time-frame.

I changed my number to many millions because it's ambiguous.
