Trade Manifesto

2. What we need:
- stop price fixing (offers should be binding) - current trade system simply promotes all kind of unfair behaviour, only multiplying our frustration :(
- BUYING process should be fair and integrated with game interface and story - we don't want to make PoE a stock exchange, so full automation is not what's necessary, however having i.e. an Caravan Master in HO requiring "something" to do for him to bring us the item we bought could be nice (ie. you confirm purchase from another player, then do a mission for Caravan Master so he can bring you the item)
- SELLING process should be demanding but fair too - you want to earn money from players, that's obvious, so why not to make yet another stash tab or HO thing?

3. Ideas:
- a Caravan Master taking stuff from you to sell it - for a fee he sends a caravan with your items to "city", caravan may need some time to reach the "city" or get back to you if you want items back (so you cant just manipulate prices 10x per day)
- a new HO type - a shop (obtained story-wise) other people can visit! For real money you can buy skins for it, decorations and useful stuff like more cabinets to list more offers! This is a superb chance for GGG to simply monetize trading.
- a trade stash tab - a tab that lists items for sale, everyone can browse it (preferably in-game?) and buy listed items without spamming PMs or being afraid of price fixing. People will be buying more and more trade tabs - profit for both GGG and players.

4. We need a damn dialogue with you, GGG! We want to talk about issues with the game and trade is one of the biggest issues! We want you to hear us and respond - not just copy-paste a manifesto, telling us to shut up because you know better... :<

It is NOT trade sim. We do not need it. It is action.

Ok, then let's remove trade at all. This is action after all. I'm totally fine with that too. Rebalaned drops and being able to find/get/craft all these damn power creep items necessary for end game would be great too.

Well the trade rework we really really need is that the game IS a trade simulator because item drops are bad.
the problem with your trade system is at about a month in to the league it becomes ever so harder to trade. especially for new players, whom it takes longer to acquire wealth. trading for basic items becomes virtually impossible to buy low tier items. even for veterans its annoying trying to spam a whole list of players for 20 mins just to get 1 item. this makes new (and even old) players want to quit mid league. this could be easily fixed by implementing a system that allows for trading simple items like maps or currency items in some manner like an auction house. you could also set up some kind of trade where the items listed be put in your/their hideout, where you list them on the trade site, players then port to the hideout with said items and buy them there. this also makes it harder for people to get scammed when said items price is fixed to a price. there are so many other ways that can make the quality of life so much better with simple fixes to the the trade system. Almost all other major MMORPG have better trade systems and its the only thing holding POE back.

Another topic is automation. While we work hard to stamp out bots and abusive behaviour, it would be hard to completely eliminate the damage caused by a few trade bots with access to a fast trade system. If they have the ability to search out and buy items without having to talk to another player, then there would be some very large-scale economic consequences that would not be good for regular players.

Basically what happen in a very large scale nowadays.
The (ab)use of bots is constantly growing and the influence of this on the market for normal players is palpable.

Technology advances over time, more and more sophisticated bots are at work and the phenomenon of the sale on external websites of game objects and currency for real money is a big incentive,so the creation and use of certain mechanisms is increasing.

In the future developers will have to face this problem more vigorously, already now the spam of external websites to sell items and game currency for money is indiscriminately present in game chats, and there are players who make extensive use of bots and related services to take an advantage in game and/or an economic return, the search for a solution is not something that can be postponed for too long.
When are the improvements going into effect? If the claim is that they have already I would suggest that more work is yet to be done. I am constantly coming across listings of people that are either offline or afk.
As I started reading this post I found some incongruences that will be detailed below:

"
Easy trade reduces the number of times a character improves their items
:
Maybe, so what? If people don't want to do a part of the game are you going to enforce it on them? That doesn't sound like good game design

"
Easy trade means reducing drop rates
:
Trades aren't hard per se, they just have a very big QoL issue, and its that they need a lot of manual labor. And yes, if you want people to work harder to get items, lowering drop rates would be a good practice. If you want to heat your coffee you don't fart on it, you just put it on the microwave

"
Easy trade would make the disparity between different players too great
:
This makes literally 0 sense. The analysis about this is so wrong, if u lower the price of trading (time) you make it easy for everyone, and what people value time the most on this game? Hardcore 12+ hours per game or people that is just starting?

I get that you guys don't even like trading, I do. But you must see that it isn't only a thing that improves the game (by a lot), and almost everyone wants it to be a complete functional part of the game, not some mash up of 3rd party tools added to the game

You need to realize that enforcing your vision of the game without listening to the community, will only hurt the game, as it does now
For the longest time I was of the opinion that trading was something crucially important for PoE and needs to be fixed.

In the current league (Archnemesis) with the improved acquisition rate of lower currency, I don't really trade that much anymore compared to previous leagues. Some items are still cheaper to buy than to craft yourself, but the bulk of trades before was for currency, scarabs, emblems, fossils, etc. This part has reduced drastically, as it is far easier to self-sustain for normal use-cases. If you want to go big and use up bulks of currency (500+ fossils per craft attempt) then it is also a lot easier to actually get those amounts now. The experience of trading for equipment is still the same as before, but due to the reduced amount of needed currency trading interaction that would otherwise be a lot of noise, it actually doesn't bother that much.

OFC people have different needs, but the current QoL changes for lower currency sustain are already a huge help in reducing the dependency on currency trade.

P.s.: I don't play standard league, as economy there is broken as hell and no fun at all. It also should not be taken as base line for trade experience imho.

I think, at this point the best QoL they could possibly make would be integrating the Trade system in the game and also a price checking tool, like Awakened PoE Trade. Then, disable the ability of other apps to access the game's screen. The trade window can also be drawn as a video stream (in-game), so even if someone could make a bot read the screen, it won't have any defined elements to process.
Many solutions can be found and it's disappointing we're still forced to use a system that looks like 2000's.

In case you didn't know, we have such a tab on ps4 for a long time already. It is called Market board. It even has a search function. You may choose to list items by category (rings, helmets, two handed staves and so on) and search by description or needed resists or affixes.
The trading process itself is following: you choose the item you like and attach the currency the trader requests, then you smack SEND button. Then the trader gets notification and then he or she may smack Accept or Decline. If he accepted you just take purchased item from Market Board's Accepted deals tab.
Pretty convenient huh?
GGG kinda tells you "wanna good trade? Play on console.

It was ps4 trade system that hooked me to trading and i bought many stashes.
If such a system was on pc i would buy that same stashes again for pc account.
