It's still not immortal (it may be once I run Uber labs a few times and get 2% life/mana regen enchantment on
Anyway, I've heard "rumors" that double Dyadus isn't reliable since either the AG doesn't hit the boss (due to hitting mobs instead or just missing from low accuracy) or the chill duration is too short (which can be fixed by Icetomb, but Icetomb doesn't boost AG survivability).
So now I've been messing around with the following AG setup:
Not sure if Kingmaker's culling aura also applies to spells, ie the TV's totem's scorching ray. I think it does. I initially wanted to get a corrupted culling strike on Dyadus, but I couldn't find one on the market or had much success vaaling myself...
Culling strike is really important in late-game bosses (Shaper, Phoenix, Hydra, etc.) since the fight tends to get hectic when the boss is at low life.
Also I'm open for comments/criticism on my char hobbes__ on Abyss HC. I'm a pure TV build. I love TVs and killing bosses. I basically only run red maps now (t14 and above). And yes, I'm using the Red Nightmare jewel for the awesome +9% block and constant 3 endurance charges while fighting mobs :-).
Thanks!
Interesting take on the AG and yeah my double dyadus AG dies on those bosses so I don't even bother summoning him.
The item setup looks good and I do agree sometimes the AG dyadus is unreliable, I even linked in a melee splash with empower so he would be decent.

Hmm since Southbound prevents AG from culling a non-frozen target, I might just replace it with rare gloves. Are there any other good, unique AG gloves?
Then again if Kingmaker's culling aura applies to spells, then it doesn't matter since the totem's spell will always hit (or me hitting the boss with a ball lightning if I'm close enough to AG).
Kingmaker - and culling strike - apply to spells, sure, but only spells that 'hit'. Tukohama's Vanguard's Totems do not 'hit', so it does not apply.
OTOH, whatever you are using to apply Elemental Equilibrium *does* hit, or it wouldn't trigger Elemental Equilibrium. So you likely still get the benefit there.

I'd like to try this build but it seems the original guide isn't correct anymore? I've been reading the last 10 or so pages and it looks like people are using different specters, gem links, gear, etc. Is there an updated guide somewhere i could follow?
The original guide is still just fine, with the possible exception of Necromantic Aegis and shields.
Folks are just trying various things to improve on it.
Also, keep in mind, the original build was designed for Hardcore, and most of us play in Normal, so we're often willing to trade some survivability for higher damage.

One more question. I saw your stuff (dunno how to make my profile pubilic ;d), and saw that you got special link in helmet for TV. I got Vis Mortis and gem it for SG, but don't have chance for now to make links for TV, is it worth to go 3SG + 1TV or just go 4 SG?
Honestyly, elder helmet is a bonus, not a requirement. You can stick TV in a Skull Head with Burning damage, swift affliction, minion damage, and ele focus and you'll be good to go for all maps and mods. Only time It's worth upgrading is when you'll be regularly farming shaper/uber atziri.
Err... that's a 5 link skullhead? :)
Honestly, if I were going to run SGs and TVs, I'd put the TVs in the chest. SGs don't need 5 support gems to clear trash mobs. The 5 support gems on the TVs will absolutely help with bosses though.

Hi. Thanks for the build and great thread. Has been a major help for me learning spectres in 3.0 and 3.1
My question, Is is there anyway to figure out actual per spectre dps?
Asking because I crafted a pretty good helm to use with TV.
So I copied the idea from the OP using 2 TV and 2 Solarguards. And while the map clear is nice, I'm trying to understand if the 2 TVs are better than the 3 TV from a Vis 6-Link.
I mainly do guardians/shaper on this character and just trying to optimize dps a bit if the boss dps is same or slightly worse. Otherwise, I would probably try and sell the helm and go back to my Skullhead.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in Advance.
There is no way currently to calculate dps on spectres released in 3.0 or later, due to the dev team obfuscating the damage values for the creatures we use as spectres.
HOWEVER.
You can get a pretty decent estimation by recording a fight with a high HP boss on a white map, and then looking up how much life they have, what their resist is, and checking exactly when you started to do damage and exactly when they died.

Yep, I got a little carried away there with the gems :P
I disagree about the SG's, though. They really come online if you can at least support them with 4 additional gems (so a 5 link). It really allows you to WB across an entire map and cast nothing but offering and pick up loot.
But honestly, there's no reason why anyone couldn't afford an elder helm with at least 1 single affix to help TV's. An elder helmet with Burning Damage support and no other elder affixes costs like 2c. Really no reason to not run something like that.
