[3.x - Discontinued for now] Burning Spectres - Torch the Atlas - HC Shaper, Elder, Uber Atziri

Just picked up this helmet what do you think?

I have read a lot of posts about supplementing TVs with 3 fire golems..How to do it though? Anima stone and a clay shaper? Anima stone and 3 primordial jewels? Do I 4-link the golems? Do i use on of the new helmets for my tvs ?

Hey, you seem to know your stuff but I can't follow your math. My understanding of resist alteration is different.

Let's take Shaper, I see how you get that 678 damage vs lvl 20 Ele Weakness:
-39% of the curse x 20% effectiveness = -7.8%
40% natural resist becomes 32.2 % and thus 1k damage becomes 678.

First question: Where is Elemental Equilibrium in that equation? Maybe I'm wrong but I'd subtract that first, so his resist after EE and EW would be 40 - 50 - 7.8 = -17.8.

About Despair, I can't get to your result. Imo it should be a 5% more multiplier given the 20% curse effectiveness.


Another math issue I don't get is the general consensus of a 5L Vis Mortis being superior to a rare 6L. Is that because you'd leave out Minion and Totem Resistance in that case? Else I wouldn't understand how a 4th minion (= 33% more damage) beats a 40+% more multiplier gem.

Excellent point on the Elemental Equilibrium, I wasn't factoring that in at all, and it actually makes a significant difference.

Despair is a 25% increased (not a 'more' multiplier) modifier... so on Shaper, with 80% curse reduction, that would be 5% increased, or an extra 50 for every 1000. Then remove Shaper's resistance from 1050, and you get the error in my calculations you pointed out. Thanks for that, updated numbers below...

Atziri + ew: 856
Atziri + despair: 770
Atziri + ew + ee: 1356
Atziri + despair + ee: 1320
Winner: Elemental Weakness

Shaper + ew: 678
Shaper + despair: 630
Shaper + ew + ee: 1178
Shaper + despair + ee: 1155
Winner: Elemental Weakness again.

Mind you, we're talking about a difference of less than 3% overall.

I should probably run that calculation for EW / Flammability for Solar Guards as well, considering I'm currently running Solar Guards!

Nope, curse is "increase damage taken" multiplier. So if there is nothing else that increasing damage taken by enemy, it's absolute equivalent of "more" multiplier on character.

Animated Guardian is all about how you can buff your minions and yourself, not so much about the damage he puts out himself.

For Tukohama's Vanguards, you run dual Dyadus one handed axes, because they provide a 100% burning damage buff when their target is chilled, and the one in the off hand can chill. Add in Icetomb chest, and the chill debuff lasts longer. Bringer of Rain helm and a rare set of gloves increase his survivability. Rainbowstride boots give him spell block, resists, and faster movement speed.

For Solar Guards, you run something like: Zahndethus' Cassock for consecrated ground on block, leer cast for extra DPS from your spectres, Victario's Flight for additional move speed for you and your minions, Dying Breath inreases your spectres DPS output AND buffs the effect of your curses and auras, and rare gloves, again, increase survivability.

Agreed. I was just trying to point out that this is a very small portion of the actual damage calc, and if we start adding in items with 'more' damage, they apply outside of these calcs.

Flammability still comes in higher for Solar Guards. On the raw % numbers, it's 44% vs 39%.

+15% increased damage
+10% movement speed
+150% chill duration
+200% increased burning damage taken (or more burn basically)

It is best to use flame golems to supplement TV's so that you have both good bossing and clearspeed. Basically it is the same skill tree but you just swap 4 jewels out for an anima stone(don't buy an overpriced one on poe.trade instead buy the 3 primordial jewels seperately and vendor for an anima stone) a primordial might and 2 primordial harmonies. Then you socket the flame golems in a +2 minion helm with the minion damage gem mod and you are good to go.

Are you sure about the 200% damage buff? I've read that dyadus doesn't stack the burning damage buff... but not from a 100% source.
