[3.x - Discontinued for now] Burning Spectres - Torch the Atlas - HC Shaper, Elder, Uber Atziri
Hey, thanks for the tips. Gonna keep tabs on the rings and such, especially since I have to manage getting the dex and resistances lol.
Ended up swapping the ammy since I had a few in my stash and trying to figure out what was best. Will shop around for jewels as well. Was going to ask if it'd be OK to attempt Shaper, but then I looked at the amount of currency needed just to buy the maps. Yeah, I think I'll hold off on that experiment. |

"Just realized you took Spirit Eater instead of Commander of Darkness. To be honest, I'd respec that if you can. The difference... Spirit Eater gives you additional corpses when desecrating, and increases *your* damage and attack speed. Commander of Darkness increases all allies damage - so if you are in a party, it will help other players as well, and boosts your minions elemental resistance by 20%. The damage from you is trivial - it's a fraction of a percent of what your spectres deal out, so the buff to your damage from SE isn't useful. And that 20% to ele resist is what lets us drop the minion resist gem in endgame. Increased AOE isn't incredibly useful either unless you are map clearing mobs. On bosses, your TVs AOE will be large enough to hit all the time without it. I'd use Chance to Ignite > AOE if you can cap your spectre resists. Other than that, Shaper is mostly mechanics. Remember to use convocation to pull your spectres to where you want them. They will also tend to run to where you cast desecrate, or where you target Arc. I notice you are running dual curse gems... but I don't see anything to enable the second curse? Am I just missing something on a piece of gear somewhere? Current league IGN: Teldra_Anc_LAD

"It's very flexible on items, however, if you're going to enroll in the self found ladder, you're always better off building your character around what you happen to find. The big benefit to this build is the cost - it's really cheap to put together, as long as you have access to trade for items. While you *can* spend a bunch of currency on it, you absolutely don't need to. You can do shaper with 20c in items. Current league IGN: Teldra_Anc_LAD

"Shaper is mostly mechanics. Watch a couple youtube vids on the process, learn the phases, you should be fine. PS: For unique amulets, I'd stick to The Anvil, Shaper's Seed, Sidhebreath, or Bloodgrip. Any of those will provide some significant boosts for this build. Current league IGN: Teldra_Anc_LAD

OMG. I think that Spirit Eater give my spec "40% increased Damage & 2% increased Attack and Cast Speed" when I create a Corpse.I got Whispers of Doom so I can use dual curse. If I use aura Clarity, Commander of Darkness will active??
|
|
"LOL - we've all done something like that at one time or another. I missed Whispers on your tree. That will work for sure, although I might spec out of that and into more life or mana if you have problems surviving. Clarity will trigger Commander of Darkness just fine. I personally run clarity, with Mind over Matter, it essentially gives you extra health regeneration. Current league IGN: Teldra_Anc_LAD

" Thanks for your fast reply. I will get Commander of Darkness, Chance to ignite gem and go Shaper again. |

Okay, so last time I came into HoGM, constantly re-taking T17 spectres from Shaper's Realm that was open in Templar Lab... I was rekt. Rekt hard.
Today, for some reason, I breezed through the place without changing anything in my build (FurudoErikaWitchOfTruth, profile is open), except for Pantheon Choices - I went with Arakaali/Ryslatha, since CA users were my nemesis last time. This time I didn't die even once, and used only lvl76 spectres from HoGM itself, constantly re-raising them. All in all, it was a breeze this time, for some reason. I'm not sure whether it was the pantheon choice or just luck with GMs that spawned for me... I have 2 more maps in my stash, will try running them too. P.S. Also, someone mentioned in this thread that Uul-Nethol's breach is problematic without switching to SGs - I personally didn't have any issues with 3 TVs and 1 WM there. In the very beginning of the run, when there are very few monsters, I once got down to 00:20 seconds left, after that it only went up, with more than 2 minutes saved up when the breach reached the boss portal. Haven't tried Chayula yet, though; this would be the final thing for me in this league with this build. Last edited by LaplaceNoMa#3989 on Nov 8, 2017, 11:21:55 AM

Well, after two more runs, I think I've finally figured out HoGM and my earlier mistakes.
There are 2 main rules to being successful in HoGM with this build, without doing any special actions like changing gear/gems: 1. Wicker Men are MUCH, MUCH better at this than TV. It's almost always better to run around with 2-3 WMs and 1-2 TVs. When you get closer to the last waves of the wing, 4 WMs is probably the best choice. 2. The most problematic GMs are those that deal damage and heal based on CWDT. So, as soon as you see those, just stop using ball lightning, and get your Wickers as close to the enemy as possible. That's pretty much it. Gonna farm the hell out of HoGM tonight, as a testament to the hours I've spent earlier this league, wiping there. |
